The last time we used them was December of 2010 and they have been kept in a cool dark place, within a capped, plastic airtight medicine container since. Now we wonder if we can use them for an ear infection or our youngest daughter? Do you think they are safe to use as directed? The Ciprofloxacin was prescribed for a prostate and/or bladder infection ## The Sucralfate can affect the absorption of the Ciprofloxacin, making it less effective, so you do need to be careful to take the Ciprofloxacin, at least 6 hours after you take the Sucralfate. The Ciprofloxacin may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. My 13" beagle is 17 yrs old. Has a heart condition. Upper left molar became inflamed. Age and condition of dog id if'y at best for operation. Was given Clindamycin 75 mg 2x a day. this is to reduce swelling of location under left eye. I can not find anything that says this would reduce swelling. Will anything else reduce swelling for the dog?v ## Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat or prevent infections. Thus, the swelling is probably caused by an infection and will reduce, as the antibiotic has a chance to work to clear it up. As to anything else you can use, I am sorry, but I am not familiar with the use of most medications in animals, so I don't know what would be safe or effective. Have you tried asking the vet?

my dr prescribed this med for a infection. The Dr. or the pharmacy neglected to tell me that you are not supposed to take antacids with this med. When I got Home I read the paperwork and the warning was also on the bottle. I have to take antacids 2x a day for my GURD. I stopped taking the antacids. What would happen if I had take my regular doses of antacids. ## If you take it with regular antacids, such as the calcium based ones like Tums, it can cause less of the medication to be absorbed, so it isn't as effective. With Ciprofloxacin, you should make sure to take these types of antacids 6 hours away from the antibiotic. This doesn't apply, however, if you are taking some other type, such as the proton pump inhibitors that are sold as generics, as well as under name brands like...
