Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine mainly used to treat allergies.[8] It can also be used for insomnia, symptoms of the common cold, tremor in parkinsonism, and nausea.[8] It is used by mouth, injection into a vein, injection into a muscle, or applied to the skin.[8] Maximal effect is typically around two hours after a dose, and effects can last for up to seven hours.[8] Common side effects include sleepiness, poor coordination ...

I am allergic to dyes and it is so difficult to find pm pain relief ## Hello, Vickie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. The PM pain relief formulas only contain the relevant medication, such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol PM), Ibuprofen (Advil PM) or Naproxen (Aleve PM) accompanied with Diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Thus, if your doctor approves, you could most likely find dye free versions of both of them and just take them separately. I know that many Acetaminophen tablets are available as just white tablets with no dyes, plus Benadryl has a dye free formulation available specifically for people with such allergies. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as possibly include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and stomach irritation. Is there ...

Why are some Aleve round and others oval? ## Hello, Jillann! How are you? Because the shape doesn't actually mean anything. That is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer. Aleve contains the active ingredient Naproxen Sodium, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. This medication may be contraindicated with some medical conditions and/or medications. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The round ones I believe last 8-12hours and the ovals I believe are 6-8 hours

Both are NSAIDS but are there any advantages to taking one over the other with regard to long term use? i.e. kidney damage or other long term effects. ## Not really, both the Naproxen in the Aleve and the Ibuprofen in the Advil carry the same types of possible risks and benefits. What you really have to decide on is which one works best for you and if your doctor says it is safe for you to use such a medication. However, you do generally need to take less of the Naproxen than you do of the Ibuprofen to get the same effects. Are there any other questions?

Are these to meds harmful taken on same day? ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Instaflex is actually classified as a supplement, not a medication, so no, it should not be a problem, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Aleve as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can you take Aleve while taken Instaflex? I'm having back pain and took a 15 mg meloxicam after having taken 3 Aleve 1 hour prior. Should I be concerned about interaction of two? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? These are both classified by the FDA as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so you shouldn't double up, you should stick with one or the other in the recommended dosage amounts and intervals. Taking them together increases the risk of bleeding, stomach ulceration and similar conditions. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was instructed by my orthopedic dr to take two Aleve in the morning and two Aleve at night. How does this compare to taking one 15 mg Meloxicam a day?

Is it ok to take these two meds together? Any major side effects from this combination? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? They should not be taken together, without your doctor's approval. According to the FDA listed interactions, Aleve can reduce the efficacy of Lisinopril and combining them could also affect kidney function. Additionally, NSAIDs are not always safe for people with high blood pressure/cardiac conditions, due to the fact that they can elevate blood pressure and cause fluid retention. Is there anything else I can help with?

I recently bought percogesic for a severe back injury as instructed by my doctor. He also told me to take aleve. Does this mean I should be taking them both or just one or the other? I tried just the percogesic annd it didn't help much. Is it safe to take them both at the same time? ## Hi amanda, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredients in Percogesic and Aleve. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. That said, "in my opinion", it is safe to take these medications together, since they are not reported to interact with each other. As far as dosing goes, I would continue what your doing and take both as prescrib...

I took 2 Aleve, then 3 - 4 hours later, 1Motrin. Should I be worried? ## Hello, Worrywort! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? This combination most likely won't do more than cause nausea and stomach pain, but it may be dangerous for some people with certain health conditions or who are on certain prescription medications. But they are both NSAIDs, so it's essentially doubling up on the same medication and should be avoided in the future.

Can I take 2 aleve and 2 Tylenol at the same time for pain. Is there any benefit to doing this? Are there any adverse reactions with taking both at the same time? ## Hello, Steve! How are you? That's not advisable, though you may get more benefit by alternating them every 8 hours, if your doctor approves. However, for pain, the best to try first would probably be the Aleve, since it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can help with both pain and swelling, while the Acetaminophen doesn't help much with swelling, which can easily worsen someone's pain. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding. If you feel you need something stronger, then you should see your doctor as they c...

Where can I buy ALEVE PM?? I am unable to locate it in the Alabama ared. I talked to Bayer customer service and was informed they do not make a PM pill. ## Based on my research, Aleve PM is not on the market as of writing this; only Advil PM in that regard. The manufacturer's website also verifies this on their product page. Have you considered trying Advil PM (diphenhydramine + ibuprofen)? You can learn more about this drug on the pages for Diphenhydramine Details and Ibuprofen Details I hope this info helps!

Can I take Aleve and oxycodone 15 mgs together ## Hello, Tina! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, so that should be okay, as long as your doctor approves. In some people the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory in Aleve may potentiate the action of the Oxycodone, so you may experience more potent side effects. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The side effects for Aleve are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

it the same to take one pill of naproxen 500 mg twice a day or 2 pill of gelcap Aleve twice a day? ## Hello, Casandra! How are you? The typical over the counter Aleve in the U.S. contains 220mgs of Naproxen, per gelcap, so taking 2 of them would be 440mgs, thus the prescribed 500mgs is stronger. This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. my husband took an aleve and a OMP 20 (pink and white capsule same as Prilosec) and almost immediately got extremely sleepy and felt drugged and I was wondering if that is dangerous for him to do this combination? ## Hello, Andrea! How is your husband doing? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but its always best to double check such information to be sure. However, such medications are often prescribed together, to help prevent the stomach damage that an NSAID like Aleve may cause. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding. Is he on any other medications?
