Are there less gi complications from using the patch than taking the pills? ## In one way or another the drug itself is going to have to metabolize, but I do believe a patch would present less GI discomfort for the sole reason that there are less binders and fillers than there would be in a tablet. It is my understanding that these so-called inactive ingredients are the root cause of many side effects. Not only that, but certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. I think that's why so many people react differently to the same medication. The medication is the same, but the binders and fillers are different in each brand. I hope this helps to answer your question! ...

green pill advil with codine ## I cannot positively identify the tablet from the description your provided, since it the markings on it that tell us what it is, not the color. However, Codeine with Ibuprofen combines a narcotic pain reliever with a NSAID to treat pain, swelling and fever. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach irritation. Both are NSAIDS but are there any advantages to taking one over the other with regard to long term use? i.e. kidney damage or other long term effects. ## Not really, both the Naproxen in the Aleve and the Ibuprofen in the Advil carry the same types of possible risks and benefits. What you really have to decide on is which one works best for you and if your doctor says it is safe for you to use such a medication. However, you do generally need to take less of the Naproxen than you do of the Ibuprofen to get the same effects. Are there any other questions?

it has same color and shape of advil. the difference is that the v is smaller letter than all the over letters. All letters are lower case letters but the letter v is even smaller. ## What is the complete marking? There are many tablets on the market with the V logo, but I can't tell you anything about it, without knowing the full imprint.

Okay so i have been taking contrave for about a week, but my question is, how many hours after taking contrave can i take advil or tylenol? ## There is a risk of liver problems, such as liver damage and liver failure, according to FDA reports, so you should not take contrave with either one of these medications. Have you informed your doctor? They should be able to advise you on something that will not put you in danger.

Arthritis Neck pain is pretty intense. Was prescribed Ibuprofin 800s and pharm said to take four Advils. Been taking four in the morning and four at night for a couple weeks now. Hearing about kidney issues..what is another way to ease the pain of arthritis in the neck? Is TENS therapy something I should consider? And what is your opinion on the units being sold in drugstores these days? ## Hello, Jefflaur! How are you? Are you having kidney issues? Do you have kidney disease? If so, there's likely not much reason to worry about it, at this point. Such medications can also affect your liver, but there's no need to stop taking them, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so. As to alternatives, there are actually many available, but you'd need to discuss your options wit...

I take synthroid but I feel very tired all the time. We checked by blood & my dosage is fine. I also started meloxicam a few months ago. I thought it worked pretty well. But now I am wondering if my tiredness could be from the meloxicam. If I think back I started feeling this way about 2 months ago & started the meloxicam about 4 months ago. Would advil or the like be better for me? I have arthritis in my hands. ## Actually, tiredness is reported by most people that take a medication for their thyroid issues, even if their tests are good and things are under control. It just seems to be a side effect that never really goes away. Such medications are much more prone to causing it than the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories. If it's okay with your doctor, you could try Advil, wh...

Pseudoephedrine (PSE) is a sympathomimetic drug of the phenethylamine and amphetamine chemical classes. It may be used as a nasal/sinus decongestant, as a stimulant, or as a wakefulness-promoting agent[4] in higher doses.[5] It was first characterized in 1889, by the German chemists Ladenburg and Oelschlägel, who used a sample that had been isolated from Ephedra vulgaris by the Merck pharmaceutical corporation of Darmstadt, Germany.[6] The...

Does anybody know if it is okay to take Advil on an empty stomach? I was told that it does a number on it, and I just wasn't sure - As a side note, I don't really take Advil on a regular basis at all. ## It's technically OK at the recommended dose but you might experience discomfort. What becomes a problem is if you take too much advil or take it for a prolonged period. If you can, try to eat something like a banana with it to buffer your tummy.

Does anybody know whether it is advisable or not to drink a caffeinated beverage after taking an Advil? I know that some other drugs such as Excedrin Migraine already contain caffeine in order to supplement the Acetaminophen and treat the headache more effectively. Does the same concept apply to Ibuprofen? ## I don't think that it will harm you if you drink caffeine after taking Advil, but I can't say whether or not it will have synergistic effects with the Ibuprofen the way that it could with Aspirin on Acetaminophen for instance.

I take 30 mg methadone daily in 3 doses of 10 mg ea. for chronic pain. I am now also on triamterine hctz 37.5-25 mg a day. Can I still take 2 Advil with one dose if methadone a day for break thru pain? Also, I take 1 potassium supplement (99mg) daily. When I forget, I eat 1 or 2 bananas. Is any of this wrong when taking triamterine as stated above? ## Hello, Maria! How are you? The combination of Triamterene and potassium should only be taken together, if your doctor feels it is necessary. Both can increase potassium levels, and too much can be just as dangerous as not having enough in your body, according to the NIH. The Advil can also raise it, when taking with the Triamterene. The FDA warns that the Advil should not be taken with the Triamterene, because they can increased the toxici...

Can I take Advil p.m. If I'm taking Lisinopril I just started taking Lipinopril. I want to take Advil pm before bed ## Hello, Trish! How are you? What are your current blood pressure levels, after starting the Lisinopril? Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories can be contraindicated in some blood pressure and cardiac patients, because they can sometimes cause elevated blood pressure as a side effect, as well as fluid retention, according to the FDA. Are you on any other medications?

A few years ago I started to get arthritis pains in my hands late at night, in colder weather/water and after using them a lot. I was told by my grandma I probably have it because it runs in both sides of the family. I took naproxen once and broke out in hives/skin rash on my arms. I no longer take it but I can take Advil with no problems whatsoever. All doctors are very confused by this as they are apart of the same family. I'm confused too. Is there a reason why I can take one but have allergic reactions to the other? ## That is always possible, since no medication is exactly the same as another, when it comes right down to the actual base chemicals. For example, I can take most antibiotics without a problem, but had a bad allergic reaction to Bactrim. It really isn't always t...

Really wanted to know if I can take advil pm.for my head ach and help sleeping, but im on 8mg sub.a day and 10mg flexeril??? ## From what I've read, apparently there are dangerous drug interactions listed between the Buprenorphine in Suboxone and the Cyclobenzaprine in Flexeril. I'm not sure if you were already aware of this, but the interaction states that using these two central nervous system (CNS) depressants together may increase your risk of a Buprenorphine overdose, life-threatening respiratory depression, coma, and even death. Having said that, extreme caution on proper dosing should be advised by your doctor if he/she hasn't already mentioned this to you. Regarding Advil PM, the diphenhydramine in this medication also interacts with the Buprenorphine in Suboxone. Not...
