How long does it take for the pain from a bad migraine to go away? I've been taking the pills for 3 days and I still have my bad migraine. ## Hello, Char! How are you? I am so sorry about the migraine. It should have helped by now, if it was going to do so. As detailed by the NIH, these types of medication usually start to work within 15 to 20 minutes of taking them, so relief should be felt soon after. It might be time to explore other migraine relief options, such as different medications. Dilaudid is often used by hospital ERs to treat them. Have you ever tried it? It's an idea you can discuss with your doctor, anyway. The FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. ## Char, ...

I would like to know if these are available online, either in the UI, SA, A, or Canada..? Any information, address, telephone or ???? ## does regular strength 325mg acetaminophen have codene in it ## @Eddie, The medication you're describing (generic Fioricet) is reported to only be available via prescription - at least here in the US. This means that it would be illegal to obtain them via other means if you reside in the US. So unless you're visiting those other countries in person, you'd have to go through your doctor in order to get what you need. @themayor665 (post #1), No, Acetaminophen in and of itself does NOT contain Codeine at all. They are two different drugs. However, the medication in question (generic Fioricet) is available with Codeine "added" to the mix...

is hydroco/apap 5-325 mg stronger than BUTALBITAL, ACETAMINOPHEN, CAFFEINE, AND CODEINE tablets i have BUTALBITAL, ACETAMINOPHEN, CAFFEINE, AND CODEINE tablets for migraine headaches. I had a very bad fall and hurt my arm, shoulder and knee. they gave me hydroco/apap 5-325 mg for the pain. Which of the two is stronger for pain relief? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? Codeine is actually very weak, so for that type of pain, you'll most likely be better off with the Hydrocodone that they've prescribed, it is much stronger and better able to handle the pain from an injury, such as that which occurred due to your fall. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is ...

My boyfriend is a Vietnam Vet and he has a rod in his leg and suffers from migraines all the time sometimes 3 days straight. His doctor gave him something called firinal and only supposed to take 2 a day and lays down. Is 2 too much to take at once? He's 69. He also takes butalbital, too much acetaminophen for the day I think. Won't he get liver damage? His doctor at the VA prescribes him so much he doesn't know what half of them are, so I google everything he gets so I can help him. Thank you, Mary ## It doesn't SOUND like he's getting too much if he is taking them as prescribed... The doctor needs to monitor this..... A common symptoms of acetaminophen toxicity is jaundice. If you notice that his skin and whites of his eyes have a yellow color, seek immediate help....

I am pregnant and I'm taking butalbital + apap (325mg) + caffeine. My doctor says it's ok. Can I take tylenol along with it? ## Do NOT take Tylenol or any other brand of acetaminophen with any other drug containing it. You can accidentally overdose. FDA has recently come out with a "black box" warning about this. Please do a search for Butalbital and you should find the same article regarding acetamenophin and the FDA. ## Diane is correct, in this medication, APAP is just medical speak for Acetaminophen. You can read more about the dangers of overdosing on it here NCBI Acetaminophen Hepatoxicity. Why do you feel you also need Tylenol?

I have BUT/ACETAMINOPHEN/CAFF 50-300-40 CP. What do the last two letters "CP" mean? Does it mean capsules? ## Hello Grace, Typically the abbreviation CP in the medical field refers to cerebral palsy but in reference to a pill itself it's fairly safe to assume that it could stand for capsule. Each company and pharmacy have their own way of labeling things so if it's truly of great concern to you simply ask your pharmacy or the manufacturer who labeled the bottle. ## The ingredients listed in your abbreviation correspond with: Butalbital 50 mg / Acetaminophen 300 mg / Caffeine 40 mg I am inclined to agree with everyone on here that the "CP" could likely stand for Capsule ...
