My 6 month old cat got ahold of one of my wife's 500 mg cephalexin pill, I had noticed him playing with it and chased him down to grab it, by the time I got it it was pretty chewed up and no powder was left on it, should I call a vet right away? Can this medication be crushed and if not, is it available in a chewable or liquid form? I will be needing this in an alternative form in a few months and am looking into the alternatives ahead of time in order to be prepared. ## No, this one cannot, because the XL designates it as being time released. However, there is a regular release formulation available that you may be able to switch to, if you speak to your prescriber about it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia and nervousness. Is there anything else I can help with?
