My husband is on 2 - 30 mg morphine daily. He feels terrible and just wants to get off. How? ## From personal experience, I can tell you that even only using it as prescribed can result in severe withdrawal symptoms if you stop cold turkey. Mine lasted for nearly a month. The best way to stop Morphine is to slowly taper it off, that way you minimize the withdrawals. He should really consult his doctor to get the best taper schedule and be under a doctor's supervision while he is stopping it. It is a very potent narcotic. I'm new to MSIR ER 60mg and 30mg 4 x's per day for breakthrough pain and 3 x's a day on ER. Is this too much? ## The extend release is normally taken twice a day. If you haven't been taking Morphine what you stated is too much. FDA guidelines state a patient isn't suppose to be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine a day.

Would like to know to what effect this will be different from 4-10 mg hydrocodone/500 APAP, daily ? ## They are both narcotics, so the side effects are going to be very similar, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. I have taken off-green color *generic morphine 30mg e.R for a number of years with good results / 4 chronic pain. Now pharmacy is giving me morphine tab - 30mg e.R made by a lab called *mallinkrt. Taking it does bother my stomach, and does not last as e.R should. Seems alot of this stuff being substituted at pharmacies. Twice I've been given this made by mallinkrt lab and it doesnt work.
