You would think not taking for days I would get knocked for a loop. This moring woke up from pain, it was like I woke up in recovery room. Took 24 mg dl and didn't touch it. Whats going on. How long can a person put up with the pain without going loony. Having pain like I have for the past 2 years is really mentally fatiguing ## You are building a very strong tolerance to opioids you have to go on a long acting pain killer like methadone. My doctor put me on 16 mg of Dilaudid. The perscription says Exalgo. Is that a brand name? I was taking oxycotin 40 mg 3 times a day and 10mg perts. 3 times a day. isn't 16 mg a high dose? ## Both Exalgo and Dilaudid are brand names for the narcotic Hydromorphone. As to the 16mgs, it is not really high when you have an opiate tolerance and use high doses of them on a regular basis, which is what you were doing. It does carry the risk of side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. what does a dilaudid 30 mg look like color shape and ## There is no 30mg Dilaudid pill on the U.S. market. Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone and regular release tablets are only available in a maximum of 8mgs, the extended release in 16mgs and and extended release capsule in 32mgs. There are also generics on the market and they will all have different markings to enable their identification. Are there any markings on the tablet you are questioning? If so, please post back with them and I will gladly check it for you to see what it contains. ## The extended release were taken off the market by the FDA. ...

Way too much dilaudid
1 Reply RSS
Hello everyone, Currently i am prescribed 16mg orally of dilaudid every 3-4 hours. I have just begun my 1st day of weaning myself off by cutting down to 14 mg for this next whole week, with the help of valium. I will continue to cut down like this until the last dose. Now i understand that this is an extremely high dose but im focusing on getting off of it and not worrying about how i got on it. The reason it got so high was because i have this chronic severe chest pain that after 4 1/2 months they have been unable to find a reason for the pain. Last week in the hospital i was in so much pain and and didnt know why until i found out that some idiot dr. cut my dilaudid dose in half, so i was screaming and pain and going through severe withdrawl. I know i have a long tough road ahead of m... ...

Roxicodone dilaudid

I was on 30 mg Roxie 3x day, plus 15 mg Roxie 1x day, but doctor now changed and gave me 2 8 mg of dilaudid a day to be taken just 1/2 pill every 6 hours. Not working for me and it's almost 3 months and it's worse not better as he said I needed that time to let it all in my system. I'm really upset as pain level is back to what it was twenty years ago when I first began pain melds after bad auto accident. ## Hello, Shar! How are you? Yes, if you're maximum of the Dilaudid is 16mgs a day, then you are on a much lower dosage, rather than an equivalent one. To be equal to the 105mgs of Oxycodone that you were taking each day, you'd actually need 39mgs of the Dilaudid. Thus, it's not you, this is really nowhere near as potent. The FDA classifies this medication as a ... ...

Exalgo 5 16mg A Day With Dilaudid 8mg for Breakthough
1 Reply RSS
For the past year I have been taking Exalgo 16mg 5 pills in the morning with 8mg of Dilaudid for b/t pain. I had a severe back injury 4 yrs. ago. In the past I have taken Oxyicontin w/roxy & Mophine Sulfate w/a low dose morphine for b/t . Each pair for a little over a year. The Oxycontin was the best for my pain, I was able to function better. I transformed from an ambitious friendly person to a fowl mouthed demon. Awful!! Morphine after 1 1/2 years and losing five teeth, I was sure I had Alzheimers. I had no recall, couldn't remember names or how to do things. Now on Exalgo w/Dilaudid for b/t. It does not give me great pain relief but mentally I am close to normal, except for the depression, I cannot shake, for 3 years now. Please I need help with getting a new prescription. I ... ...

16mg dilaudid given to me per day then had memory problems
3 Replies RSS
My doctor knew nothing about how this medication would work in my system. And am upset because my behavior changed drastically while taking it with the Fetenyl pain patch. Doctor then changed me to hydrocodone quickly one day. He had given me so much I had memory loss and ultimately a stroke. Anyone else have same trouble with this dose of diladid.? Doctor insisted I take it until memory loss set in. ## I am very sorry about what happened to you. However, no one can know how any given medication will affect anyone, if they've never taken it before. Opiates have been known to cause personality changes in some people that take them, as well as memory issues, as listed by the FDA. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such... ...

Withdrawal from dilaudid
13 Replies RSS
Hey everyone, im recently cutting down from 16mg of dilaudid every 3-4 hrs to im at 4mg every 4 hrs now. Ive been on dilaudid for 10 months for a tumor that went undiagnosed for 8 months. Most doctors thought i was just drug seeking because they couldnt find out what was causing my pain, so im relieved they finally found something and i had it removed and i feel so much better. Now all my other problems are solved except for the dilaudid dependance. Any tips on getting off this stuff. It gets extremely unbearable after just 5 hours from the last dose. I know i dont need it for pain anymore, i just want to be off everything and back to normal. Any help would be appreciated. ## Hey, that's all normal. I'm in the same boat but w/oxycodone. Anyone who's not an opiate user (and e... ...

Are Dilaudid and Oxycodone the same?
9 Replies RSS
My dr switched my oxycodone 30mg to dilaudid 8 mg. I am wondering how they compare to one another? ## Based on my research, Dilaudid is much stronger then Oxycodone, but it doesn't last very long in it's immediate release formula. Oxycodone has an extended release formula (Oxycontin); which may be better suited for some people when used chronically for long term pain relief. 8mg of Dilaudid is "roughly equivalent" to 20mg of Oxycodone. This information is based on my own findings and is not relative to each individual's body chemistry or cross tolerance, as every drug can effect each person differently. I hope this info helps! ## what mg of dilaudid is equal to 15 mg of oxycodone? ## 16MG of dilaudid(2 8mg tabs) is equal to 30mg oxycodone. Swallowing dilaudid is way ... ...

What is the dosage equivilent from DILAUDID 4MG to OPANA IR 10mg and..
8 Replies RSS
I was just changed from the best pain meds I have found in 12 years of chronic pain (Exalgo ER 16mg + 4mg x 4 for breakthrough) because of a Medicare deal. Now I'm dealing with Opana ER 30mg twice daily and 10mg hydromorphone. So far the itching hasn't killed me, but I am reminded of why we switched in the first place. On the other hand, the strength seems more... I haven't been able to fill Opana ER (from Thurs to Tues is a long haul especially if I didn't have a spouse who hide meds when I need them to...) My math sucks. Not as much as withdrawal or OD though. What's the conversion? Happy Florist's Day! My first day here, glad I found you. ## Yes, you are on a slightly higher dosage, now. Thats why it feels like the strength is more. This is a narcotic analgesi... ...

switching from exalgo to oxycotin
2 Replies RSS
I have been taking 16mg of Exalgo 3times daily with 3 doses of 8mg Dilaudid for break threw pain. What is a safe low amount to start of the Oxycontin. My doctor gave me 3 60mg a day and I am concerned about starting a 60mg right away. ## Hello, Dreamer! How are you? That dose of Oxycontin is slightly higher than the dose you were taking of the Exalgo. Each 16mgs of it is equal to 42.67mgs of the Oxycontin. However, you can't cut the Oxycontin to lower the dose, but you may want to ask your doctor about starting with 2 a day to see how that works for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help... ...

How to convert to suboxone for pain management?
18 Replies RSS
I have been in Pain Management for 15 years. I have the usual round of diagnoses. Herniated discs at cervical, thoracic and lumber spine. Bone spurs through out. I have spinal cord compression in my neck. Pain. I just switched from 16mg of Exalgo (Dilaudid ER) with Fentanyl ir for breakthrough- back to 100mcg Fentanyl patches with 15mg Morphine 3x a day for breakthrough. I feel like a trapped rat. To the outside world I'm a professional woman, mother of 3 grown children. I'm no different from any other junkie though. I wanted to go into suboxone assisted substance abuse treatment. Then I found out that, for quite a while, you have to be at the program every day to pick up meds (and go to therapy/group). I'd lose my job! I can walk into Pain Management, ask for Suboxone and l... ...

Opiate Dosages
2 Replies RSS
I currently take very high dosages of oxycodone 30mg ir and dilaudid 8mg. I think after the process of elimination that my body isn't tolerating the morphine (dilaudid) and I've been on oxy for years. I was on 80mg oc before the op and couldn't tolerate new op because of binder I wasn't getting the needed meds. I need to go off of the dilaudid going to dr tomorrow, I want to be educated and know if I switch over to only oxycodone is it reasonable to ask for the equivalent of oxy to the dilaudid in addition to the amount of oxy I am currently taking? Thank you and FYI I take 90mg oxy 4x day and 16mg dilaudid 4x day and I stagger so that pain is controlled round the clock. Thank you ps what I woul like is oxy equal to dilaudid dosage. ## Dialudid contains Hydromorphone, it... ...

How Long Does Hydromorphone Stay In Your Urine
3 Replies RSS
i took a 16mg extended release hydromorphone pill waited 5 days then took a urine for probation on the 6th morning well my urine test positive? ## It is very difficult to give a definitive answer on this, due to the various factors that come into play. Most narcotics are detectable in a urine test for about 4 to 5 days, after last being taken, however, your own individuating factors are always going to have an effect on this. These factors can include your own metabolism, overall health, activity levels, fluid intake and etc. How did the test turn out? ## Can a person on just 1 mg of dilaudid via pain pump for back pain give a urine specimen for a person on both oxymorphone and hydromorphone so the person on the 2 pain meds will show positive since they honestly lost there pain pills an... ...
