Gatifloxacin sold under the brand names Gatiflo, Tequin and Zymar, is an antibiotic of the fourth-generation fluoroquinolone family,[1] that like other members of that family, inhibits the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Zymaxid or Vigamox

can i use zymaxid in place of vigamox? ## They are two different medications, though they treat the same conditions. Zymaxid contains Gatofloxacin and Vigamox contains Moxifloxacin. There might be a reason they prefer one over the other, since some are found to be better at treating certain conditions. Which one have you been prescribed? ## My 21 month old son has a bacterial eye infection & was prescribed Vigamox. However the insurance pharmacy I go to only covers Zymacid & I am very hesitant in using it & am just thinking of purchasing the eye drops.
