Repatha Overview

Evolocumab[2] (trade name Repatha) is a monoclonal antibody designed for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Evolocumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that inhibits proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). PCSK9 is a protein that targets LDL receptors for degradation and thereby reduces the liver's ability to remove LDL-C, or "bad" cholesterol, from the blood.[3] In 2015 it cost about US$14,100 per year. What side effects have been experienced with this drug? I have been advised to take Repatha. Since I am sensitive, and had a bad experience with another Amgen drug, I am skeptical. What have others experienced? ## What other medication did you have a problem with? Reactions to a medication are usually due to an ingredient, and are rarely manufacturer dependent. Repatha is used to treat high LDL cholesterol, many of these types of medications are known to cause some very annoying side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. How high is your cholesterol? What other methods have you tried for lowering it?
