Lepirudin is an anticoagulant that functions as a direct thrombin inhibitor. Brand name: Refludan, Generic: Lepirudin rDNA for injection. Lepirudin is a recombinant hirudin[1] derived from yeast cells. It is almost identical to hirudin extracted from Hirudo medicinalis.
