Pontocaine Overview
Tetracaine, also known as amethocaine, is a local anesthetic used to numb the eyes, nose, or throat.[1] It may also be applied to the skin before starting an intravenous (injection) to decrease pain from the procedure.[2] Typically it is applied as a liquid to the area.[1] Onset of effects when used in the eyes is within 30 seconds and last for less than 15 minutes.[1] Common side effects include a brief period of burning at the ...

I've been looking for pontocain ointment but can't find it any more. Is it still on the market or has it possibly been discontinued? (if it was discontinued or taken off the market, why? It was such a good product.) If no longer available, are there any substitute products. It was a combination tetracaine and menthol. Very soothing after episiotomy. It was topical ... external use only.
