Atorvastatin, marketed under the trade name Lipitor among others,[1] is a member of the drug class known as statins, which are used primarily as a lipid-lowering agent and for prevention of events associated with cardiovascular disease. Like all statins, atorvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme found in liver tissue that plays a key role in production of cholesterol in the body. Atorvastatin was first made in August 1985 at Warner-Lambert's Parke-Davis research facility i...

How long before muscle aches and weakness subside after discontinuing Lipitor ## Had been on 10mg for 4 years. recently after muscle ache issues I discontinued Lipitor. 3 weeks into it I still have weakness in limbs. Never experienced the muscle weakness symptom while on it. ## From what I was able to gather patients experience symtoms for weeks after discontinuing Lipitor. It is also suggested that if symtoms persist, or get worse, you should notify your MD. To learn more click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Lipitor-break 80mg tablets in half?
2 Replies RSS
Is it ok to break 80 mg tablets in half to acheive 40mg dose? ## Of course it is! You would be far better and cheaper if you were to buy a good generic atorvastatin though, as Lipitor is exceedingly overpriced. 80mg is a HUGE dosage of atorvastatin, and is equivalent in potency to almost 160mg Simvastatin, which many consider the superior statin. Have you recently suffered a stroke or myocardial infarction? ## It is okay to do so, as long as the medication is not time released, and your doctor approves. My cardiologist often prescribes some of my medications in a higher dosage, so I can cut them in half, since it is often cheaper that way. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Atorvastatin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any othe...

lipitor

Its strange to hear about that man who said that he thinks lipitor made his wife memory loss because I have the same thing ## Me too, my memory loss just keeps getting worse ## That is not a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, but there is no way to be sure how any given medication will actually affect anyone that takes it, since we are all different. Its typical ones are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. Has there been any change? Have you each consulted the prescribing doctors to see if there is another option you can try?

pepto bismol and frequent urination
3 Replies RSS
Why is it that taking pepto bismo causes me to have frequent urination just about every hour at night time? I also take Lipitor, Avapro, Metformin, Januvia and Actos. ## Lipitor interacts with antacids. My father has the same problem, plus nausea and stomach problems. Going to doctor to try and get him off it. Liptor from what I've been studying is not a very good, or useful, drug for most people. From what I've read, it only helps 1-3% of people. Very bad side effects too!!!! ## I started taking metformin 500 about 1 mth ago and I'm stating to pee a lot more often and it burns most of the time .. I'm also taking simvastatin20 andlevothyroxine88 but ive been taking the 2 for 2 yrs and never bothered me.. it hurts bad sometimes when I urinate ... should I stop cut them in...

What Diet Pill Can I Take If I'm Taking Lipitor and an occasional Xanax for sleep
2 Replies RSS
I have been on Lipitor for cholesterol of 298. I occasionally take a Xanax 2.5 to help sleep and anxieties. What diet pill can I take to help speed up my metabolism and lose weight? ## Hi Michelle, If you're referring to prescription drugs, there's always Phentermine as an option; but I'd suggest staying away from fat burners, as they tend to put a lot of stress on the body, let alone the side effects of prescription ones. Have you just tried changing your diet? If your goal is to lose weight fast, I find juicing fresh fruits and veggies to be the quickest option, while at the same time you're also increasing many aspects of your overall health and well-being. So it's a win win situation in my opinion. I hope this advice helps! ## Can I take levothyroxine for low thy...
