Fluocinonide (Fluonex, Lidex, Lidex-E, Lonide, Lyderm, and Vanos)[1] is a potent glucocorticoid used topically as an anti-inflammatory agent for the treatment of skin disorders such as eczema and seborrhoeic dermatitis. It relieves itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort. The usual prescription concentration is 0.05% as a topical cream, ointment, solution, or gel. Can Fluocinide cream 0.05 be used around the rectum for itching? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? You should not use it for that, unless your doctor has specifically prescribed it to treat it. There are some other conditions that this steroid may worsen, if they are what's causing the itching. What was it prescribed for? ## I used it for hemorrhoids (only on the outside) and it makes hemorrhoids go away fast.
