Coreg Overview

Carvedilol, sold under the brand name Coreg among others, is a medication used for treating mild to severe congestive heart failure (CHF), left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) following heart attack in people who are otherwise stable, and for treating high blood pressure. coreg 12.5mg tablets

tablets for heart ## is there ashortage of coreg?is something wrong with this drug?i am told by medco that its no longer available. thanks ## Coreg contains the active ingredient Carvedilol, it is often listed under the active ingredient, since it is now available as a generic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, and hypotension. Shortages tend to come and go, so they usually eventually rectify and the medication becomes available, again. Is there anything else I can help with?

coreg carvedilol

whats this med for ## a doctor in the hospital prescribed this medication when I was released. I was in for detox - alcholism. ## This is a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. It is common for someone to experience elevated blood pressure, when detoxing, so it may have been prescribed as a precautionary measure. Were you prescribed any other medications?

Coreg and oxygen levels

Hello. I was wondering if Coreg could affect my O2 levels? It just seemed that a few weeks after starting this medication my O2 level dropped to 85. I am now on O2 24/7, but all tests and imagery come back good, never smoke and my doctors do not agree on a diagnosis, maybe COPD but won't confirm. So I thought I would see if there was any connection since I passed all my tests including a stress test just before taking this medication for afib. Thanks. ## Whether or not it's listed as a side effect, I think because you noticed a change in O2 levels shortly after starting Coreg, that Coreg is likely to blame. Have you experienced any difficulty breathing since being on Coreg? According to NIH.gov, the following symptoms are listed as side effects of Coreg (Carvedilol): -rapid brea...

coreg side effects

Started taking Coreg approximately 1 yr ago. Started at 10mg daily then increased to 10mg bd for past 5mths. About 1 month now is having increasing fleeting bouts of dizziness. Would like to know if this happened to anyone else. I am also in menopause now 7 yrs on no HRT's. ## Was forced to take Coreg while in hospital for congestive heart failure. Because I have a G6PD deficiency, I had a hemolytic event in hospital. My liver turned red, my skin and eyeballs turned yellow, my stomach and back were in so much pain that they gave me morphine. But they did not stop the drug despite my liver damage. They told me that this is a cardiology unit. Shut up and that your medicine. This drug was taken in tandom with Atacand, which also causes liver damage. Both of these drugs also made me diz...

coreg, any problems stopping?

I've been on coreg 4 days. Side effects are so bad, I'm so tired I can hardly move and just feel s****y. I stopped for 2 days for a stress evaluation and had no problem at that time. Then I took one 3.125 last night. I don't want to take anymore. Is there any problem stopping treatment? My blood pressure wasn't that high to begin with, maybe around 140 over 80. ## Hello, Ralph! How are you? Those side effects can be normal for the first few weeks after starting such a medication. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However, they are usually transient and should go away, once your body gets used to the medication. The danger to not taking it is that your blood pressure could keep going higher. It's actua...

carvedilol and panic attacks

I have been on carvedilol 12.5 mg twice a day for about 2 months and am wondering if it might be the cause of what i would describe as mild to major panic attacks as soon as i wake up. They are scary. I am filled with a sense of doom. I am tired but get up ,drink some coffee and toast and start moving. This helps. I am also being treated with wellbutrin for depression (low dose as well as lorazepam. This all scares me and i need help figuring what is triggering these attacks. I recently had a ICD biventricular pace maker put in because of CHF which was diagnosed some 6 months ago. Prior to carvedilol my DR. had me taking metoprolol which gave me nightmares and disturbed sleep. So he switched me to carvedilol. I also high hypothyroidism and take levothyroxine for that. I most always feel...

Why would you have to take coreg and avalide together if they do the same work?

My husband takes Coreg for blood pressure and he also was just given avalide with it. Isn't Avalide the same kink of drug? ## has anyone out there taken methadone (im on 140 mgs) and phentermine together? if so what kind of experience did you have? i have been on methadone for 5 years and gained almost 60 lbs but i am scared to start the phentermine i was prescribed! please help! ## Coreg contains Carvedilol, and Avalide contains Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, so they are not exactly the same, though both are used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Multiple medications are often prescribed, when someone's blood pressure is dangerously high, to help bring it down as fast, and as safely as possibly. Once it is at a normal level, medications can be lo...

Coreg / Hawthorn

I am suffering from stage lV CHF and taking Coreg as well as 300 mg.Hawthorne daily. I worry about negative consequences of Coreg as I believe the Hawthorne smothers the negative effects. Anyone else taking a combination of Coreg & Hawthorn ? ## Is Coreg the only medication you take for your CHF? Aren't you on a diuretic? The Carvedilol in Coreg can help with cardiac function and lower blood pressure, but it doesn't remove the fluid that's associated with CHF. Learn more Coreg details here. Hawthorn extract has been shown to improve the life span and cardiac function of CHF patients, in some trials, but I have heard nothing about it inhibiting the bad side effects of any medication. ## HEY TOMMY I GOT SOME QUESTION ABOUT THIS ISSUE! Coreg and pacemaker

I have stage 1 chf. I had a mitral valve replaced with a St Jude valve. I am taking 25 mg of Coreg twice a day. Wouldn't a pacemaker keep the heart rate up? Do I still need Coreg? I exercise regularly, eat a heart healthy diet and have no symptoms.
