They do carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability, as reported by the U.S. FDA. Have they been prescribed for you? Some people do have to take them long-term, but your doctor should be monitoring you for any possible problems or issues.

Since one of its side effects is drowsiness, some doctors will use it to treat insomnia, as well, however, it IS NOT in and of itself a sleeping pill!
