Diltiazem (INN) (/dltazm/) is a nondihydropyridine (non-DHP) calcium channel blocker used in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and some types of arrhythmia. It relaxes the smooth muscles in the walls of arteries, which opens (dilates) the arteries, allows blood to flow more easily, and lowers blood pressure. Having to go without Cartia XT

Can't afford to buy Cartia XT. I will be on meds for approximately 3 weeks before being able to purchase it again. What kind of problems could I end up having? Trying to get off Cartia XT

I have been taking Cartia XT for 3 months now. I want to go off of it completely now, but don't know how? Originally, I was told to take it for 90 days. ## What condition was being treated? This medication is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. If you have such a condition, it may not be safe for you to stop taking it. ## Are you off cartia now? I'll be getting off mine too. I also take effexor as well. What are your side effects

Cartia XT 120 mg availability

If Cartia XT has been discontinued what is the best replacement for it? ## I am still taking Cartia XT...h however I feel nauseated like I'm going to faint I have body aches constipation depression muscle weakness and hoarseness. And looking up the side effects of Cartia all of that on there. I'm trying to be informed about replacement drugs and what can be substituted for Cartia. I'm taking this trip for years was never this kind of side effects until 6 or so. I also take Prophonome and Xarelto. These also have the same side effects. But I chose to stop the Cartia for one night and woke up feeling a lot better than this morning and all day that day. Cartia xt replacement

Iecently been told by my pharmacy that Cartia xt is no longer on the market. My physician precribed Dialtiazen as a replacement. This has led to numerous side effects previously not related to cartia xt. I'm looking for some adice ! ## Everyone having problems trying to find a replacement for Cartia XT. It needs to be made again and fast IMO. Still trying different genertics ## I too was just switched from Cartia xt to diltiazem, and have felt sickish' ever since starting it last Tuesday.....I'm even having chest pain/shortness of breath, feel almost like I have the flu each time I take it and really weak...I'm so upset because I work at JCPenny and this time of year is diffcult enough at my job, without this new added problem...I was feeling perfect until the med switch...

I would like to know why they took cartia xt off thr market what was wrong with it? ## I'm not finding anything that lists it as being discontinued However, there have been several reports from people who have had great difficulty in find it. It is a calcium channel blocker, used to treat hypertension and angina. Did your doctor or pharmacist say it was discontinued?
