Zyprexa contains the active ingredient Olanzapine, it is an antipsychotic medication.

Side effects may include: dizziness, sedation, apathy and auditory hallucinations.

As to why he would take them, it is hard to say why anyone does that, he may enjoy the effects they have on him, he may not even understand what they are used for.

Zyprexa is a anti psychotic medication. Its main action is stopping delusions and psychosis due to a mental illness. It provides sedation and a very ugly high. Its availability is common and your son using this for a way of getting high is also common among younger users who dont have access to the more abusable prescription meds and dont have the knowledge to know what they are taking. Good Luck

What would the symptoms be if a person was unknowingly given a high dose of zyprexa?

Melinda, with this medication, they would more than like experience extreme sedation, drowsiness and they symptoms of central nervous system depression, such as lowered heart rate, lowered breathing rate and lowered blood pressure.

If they take too high of an amount and don't seek medical treatment, they could fall unconscious and the CNS depression could lead to respiratory or cardiac arrest.
