Yutopar Aka Ritodrine Experiences (Page 2)

Updated

My husband and I have had our daughter, which is now 30, tested for everything and the doctors can't seem to be able to give us a diagnosis, and things are not getting any better. My beautiful daughter has struggled and suffered so much and it breaks my heart to know that the Yutopar that was given to me, affected my baby. My daughter is the one who suffers from it on a daily basis. My second child is normal, and I did not take the drug while carrying him. I would really like to talk to all of you, something needs to be done to care for these kids that are now adults that can not cope. They sleep, eat, are extremely depressed, suicidal thoughts, learning problems, unable to conform to society, lies, bi-polar, anti-social, can't function in everyday life and with everyday problems. We need help. If anyone out there could possible contact me {edited for privacy}.

My sister died from this horrible drug but her baby survived and is now 21. However, he does have eating problems amongst other emotional issues so I would be interested if you do find anyone to take on the case.

Here is a link to the news article about my sister from 1993 -

My son is 21 and I took this drug during my pregnancy with him. I have 2 other sons older and younger that don't have the emotional issues that he has. He always seemed withdrawn as a baby and child. He has been diagnosed as Bi-polar, has had suicidal idealations, learning issues etc. Has anyone been able to get any answers about this to see if it is the cause!

Hi,
I am currently doing IVF in UK and was prescribed ranitodine (5mg 4 times per day) just after embryo transfer. I have been taking the pills for 4 days and find the side effects just awful which prompted me to do a google search on the drug... and i am now horrified at what i have discovered and completely in shock - why would my ivf clinic put me on such a dangerous drug??! Im so saddened to read about everyones experiences with this drug. Im worried that i may have done some damage to my potentially unborn baby? Any advice would be really appreciated.. can i ask for how long ladies were taking the medication and the strength of the dose? I have taken a total of 80mgs over the 4 days.. Thank you so much

Hi there, I am so sorry to hear about your child but your posting shed some light on my daughters issues. My daughter is 25 now and has the same symptoms as your daughter..she has attempted suicide 3 times in 3 years.. and also has 3 children in the same timeframe.. we just couldn't understand why she has these problems until now. the question is what can we do about it?

I'm a female child of a mother who took yutopar, I'm 26 have experienced depression 13-14, anxiety, not really a people person. Been pregnant 3 times, my first was a stillborn my middle is disabled and also a little person(doesn't run in the family ) and developmental delayed. And my youngest stopped growing at 25 weeks and lived for a month. I've had all kinds of women problems and I've always wondered if I wasn't having some sort of issue with my mom being a des baby and the yutopar

I have a 26 year-old child who was exposed to Ritodrine for 17 weeks in utero. He is extremely bright, but has serious problems with social skills, has little or no compassion for others, (his words) and seems to have no attachment to family. In fact, we haven't seen him in years, he refuses to contact us. We have other children who were not exposed and they are normal. I would be interested if there is any research done on this or if there is a legal action. This is heartbreaking.

My son is 27 on Thursday, and I was given Yudopar when I was 6 month pregnant with him. When my son an infant we couldn't let him cry because he would lose his breath and we would have to blow in his face to get him breathing again. He has shown more symptoms over the years. He has suicidal thoughts, lies, anti-social, depressed, can't sleep, he doesn't eat. I always wondered about side effects with this drug, but I put my trust in the doctors. I have 2 other children and they are fine, and I didn't take this drug with them. I'm trying to learn more about this drug.

I was given ritodrine in iv form for about a week when I was 32 weeks pregnant with my son in 1982. My son has had a zillion emotional problems including depression, add, adhd, etc. He takes meds for depression. I began taking him to counselors at around age 10 or 11. He has a hard time coping with lots of things in life. Socially he barely can make friends. He is 31 now and still has lots of problems.
Anybody have a case suit going on yet?

I also took you yutopar at 7 months into my pregnancy. absolutely with no doubt I know the drug I took did this to him. he is bipolar high anxiety, self medicates has some obsessive issues, anger. As a teenager he gave black eyes several times. Didn't want to go to school but finally graduated.. He was smart and on honor roll has a but was diagnosed with by polar he has a high tolerance to pain. Living with him is a night mare. He is almost finished with his associates 4 more classes and has been accepted to a university. He has been in trouble with the law has a felony. But he plans on getting his bachelors and maybe masters. We collectively have not taken any college loans out just in case he may never get a job. It was this drug because our son is perfectly normal and I did not take this drug with him. He has the depression and the highs lows anger high tolerance to pain and a number of issues. Some doctors said he has something but they can't put a name on it. I say its yutapar.

I'm a 29 year old who has struggled with social anxiety, depression, add... I have heard the traumatic story of my birth from my parents all my life. How my mother was put on this drug and almost bled to death. She mentioned that it had been pulled from the market but I never quite made the connection until last night when we were talking and I jokingly asked her if she had done drugs while she was pregnant with me... then it dawned on me. She DID. She took Ritodrine. Suddenly.... I realized that actually, there is a reason I am the way I am. I have spent quite a bit of money on medications, therapy and have missed out on a lot in life due to my social issues that went undiagnosed until my adulthood. I still suffer from these issues to this day, unfortunately. I really can't believe there has not yet been a legal case filing, especially since the drug has been pulled from the market and after reading all the reviews... I'm not sure where to go from here but I for one truly believe that this drug has destroyed lives and has gone unchecked.... it's hurtful too because all these years I just believed I was weird.

omg I just read your story....I am so sorry, what a horrible thing to go through...this drug is a nightmare....I see my daughter as a daily reminder as I watch her struggle with trying to get through life not knowing how...my heart goes out to you and your family...even though it's been awhile, it has to still hurt knowing things could have been different, and you would still have your sis here....thanking you for sharing that with me....

hi Pat,
I was reading your post and was wondering if you had gotten in touch with a lawyer or someone who could help us. I too have a daughter who suffers from mental and physical issues due to this drug. I would appreciate if you could get in touch with me so we can discuss this. Thank you.

My son will soon be 27. I was on Yutopar for 15 weeks prior to his birth at 35 weeks. Though we took him home at 2 days, he spent much time in the hospital during his first year. When we asked back then, if any of his issues could be related to the medication, we were assured "no". As the years went by, there were many issues with behavior, especially on the social level. I spent so much time at school, that I knew all of his teachers and principals personally, and not because I wanted to. I finally removed him from public school in 10th grade, home schooled him, and he got his GED at 17. He is extremely bright, but with emotional issues. Was on medication for depression, but he wouldn't stay on it. He has had 2 jobs, which family helped him get..but has been unemployed for over 10 months, and now he and his family are living with my husband and me, since his unemployment fan out. He lacks the ambition to go find employment on his own because he would have to "talk" to someone he doesn't know. Counseling never helped. I am just glad to know now that we are not alone.

Hello. I am a woman 35 years old, my mother got ritodrinein her pregnancy of me. for long I have questioned in myself why I have a difficult love issue… As if feeling love triggers a reaction in me that I get upset. I desire love, bud being afraid, feeling as if it not allowed. forbidden. I am a very gifted per on, have many talents. bud why is it so difficult for me to put myself in the world? a feeling of stress all the time. having difficult love relationships where I feel insecure, get upset, feel bad, guilt of not loving enough.. get depressed, having eating disorders. For this pattern of love imploding and getting down, i am going into a traject of regression-therapy. during the intake the therapist asked me about the pregnancy of my mother, I told het that my mother had contractions at 24 weeks of pregnancy. she went to the hospital and got a infuus of ritodrine. and later ritodrine pils. I realized that labour is started by Oxytocine, the LOVE hormone which is suppressed by an antagonist… Adrenaline…. So yesterday I started reading about these contraction inhibitors. I called my mother to ask what she got in the hospital, so today she called the dokter and there she found in her file that she got Ritodrine. Reading about this being a adrenaline like subsance, gave me the insight of this deep unconscious layer of feeling stressed. Adrenaline give the effect of freeze, flight, fright… Being depressed-freezes, having panic reaction and running away-flight, or getting upset, angy and aggressive-fight…. On this physiologic level of neurotransmitters and homones lies a root of my problem with life. reading all the messages on this website that have been written here by all the loving parents, it is like looking is some kind of mirror, realizing i have found a very deep insight in many difficulties in my life. A very nice side effect of getting to know this about myself is that i can let go a very deep rooted feeling of guilt, I am born with a prenatal damage, I have to deal with this, I am a person of light and love, struggling with this deep rooted damage. I have faith and believe in the good, the love and the possibility to stand up in life…. this way I do not have to feel victim of some bad pharmacist because it gave me the possibility to live and learn, to forgive and step by step…love… These doctors did what they could to keep me alive and save my parents only daughter. These doctors did not know, we have to forgive, love, Oxitocine… So I go on on my path going up and down, walking on edges and borders, opening and closing doors. I have the help of homeopathic remedies and beautiful flower remedies to let me remember love, softness, joy and release the old pain and stress. Thanks all for posting your stories and thank for reading, please leave a reply.
