Xarelto Fluid Retention

I had to take Xarelto due to two sinus venous thrombosis in my head. 8 weeks of heparin injections showed no side effects. But with the first day of taking Xarelto my body reacted by retaining water. Within the first three weeks I gained 24.46 lb hill exercising 5 times a week and eating as I always did. After retaining more and more water I stopped taking it after three months. I started with a weight of 120 lb at a height of 5''8 and now I weigh 157 lb. I have to ad that I started taking it in the middle of March and stopped taking it at the end of June. I was not able to loose any water/weight. I eat less than I always did before even while I exercise. All doctors couldn't find the one thing that changed through Xarelto. Has anybody ever experienced something like this while taking Xarelto??

Yes I have been complaining about weight gain since taking Xarelto for AFib and the bloating is quite painful have been thinking of just stopping it and see my doctor. Hope you get some help with this .

Yes Xarelto mutilates your kidneys and that's what causes the fluid retention. Reduced kidney function, and they're discovering more downsides to this medicine everyday. I'v discontinued my use of the drug and magically my fluid retained legs and ankles shrunk and have been that way since

Yes!! Stomach bloating was awful and needed drainage to remove fluid.

Thanks. Everyone in my house started intermittent fasting. I think it may help our problems. I remember some on this thread saying fasting helped them get back to normal. You pick an 8 hour window (mine is 10:30 to 6:30) and that's when you eat. If you have the luxury, it's great to exercise right before your first meal. We'll see... I'll report any progress.

Get natural wellness ultra thistle. My liver test came back excellent! Are you also having spikes in blood pressure? I also found that eating nonfat other than avacado, olive oil, etc., (no diary fat or meat fats or trans fats, I did just tuna for a month), I lost 20lbs, but as soon as I had dairy or sugar or meat bang back on over night I found this causes extreme visceral fat and it causes my stomach to swell so much that it stretched the ligament in middle of my torso, so if i lay flat then lift my head off the floor as if to do a sit up my stomach comes to a point which normally is 1/2” to 1”, but mine is currently 3”.

Hi. No I never had the dye test. I worked out 1 1/2 daily and always ate healthy. My right calf hurt and was larger than the other. Walked around like that for 6mo's thinking I had a pulled muscle. The chiropractor noticed and had me get an ultrasound. Had a dvt from groin down to calf. Then found out I carry the Leiden Factor 5 blood clotting gene. Was on birth control pills at the time. Also took 4 long car trips. I started liver cleanse pills, and try to eat a Paleo diet (80% of the time) lifestyle. My legs, stomach, and breasts still feel heavy, but I do notice an improvement every 6 months. I pray it continues.

Yes I have had the same effect as well as hemorrhaging and nearly died and had to have several blood transfusions. I have been severely damaged by xarelto including internal bleeding they can’t seem to find and more. The weight gain is the same 45 lbs and I eat like a bird. Only thing I find that helps with inflammation is extreme cold from cryotherapy.

Yes, exactly the same thing happened to me. I am suing them. This medication was banned in Germany and other countries due to a 25% death rate. I nearly died from it. Did you also have a mri with dye test done?

I'm also taking 1 baby aspirin at bedtime, and turmeric and cinnamon daily along with the nattokinase and serrapeptase and sometime bromalain.

Hi. I'm currently taking serrapeptase and nattokinase on an empty stomach (1/2 hour before meals, or 2 hrs after) 2 times a day. Also taking L-Glutamine powder daily (for leaky gut) Xarelto damages our G.I. lining (leaky gut) and also our liver, which makes us swell up with fluid. Also drinking lemon water (sometimes with a little pure cranberry juice) and eating 3 stalks of celery morning and night (also for the liver). Eating bread or drinking beer, immediately makes me swell. I have also started liver cleanse pills. Will continue until I lose the last 15lbs. Every 6 months I notice a change for the better!!

I went on white oak bark and went off cumadin. Xarelto almost killed me and I’m still bleeding internally from it. It caused the liver to swell and when liver doesn’t function you gain weight. Our stomachs are like those with chirrosis of the liver, only ours re induced by xarellto. Has anyone noted if they drink even the slightest bit of alcohol their stomachs descend more and more inflammation and water retention?

I will have to try to find a lawyer here brave enough to file something other than the bleeding issues from xarelto...don't have to worry about trying to lose the weight anymore...I was at 167 lemon water got me down to 135. And then the thyroid kept me losing till I was below 120...once I got it removed I have now stabilized at 130.

I also have horrendous problems with my thyroid because of xarelto. I had some issues from autoimmune prior that was compounded by xarelto. So yes, it does affect metabolism and thyroid and adrenal glands. Adrenals when fatigued causes the thyroid to malfunction or not function. And very true, lemon water does help with inflammation. Also add In organic celery juice!! By itself on an empty stomach, don’t eat 2 hours before or after. Xarellto is making organs toxic especially the liver and symptoms stay and keep occurring because my liver is not flushing out the toxin or chemicals in xarelto. I do celery juice before bed and when I wake up followed by carrot with apple (all organic) and the lemon juice rinds all through a juicer with spring water, no sugar (make sure all organic). The liver is holding onto fats and so are your organs in order to protect them from the xarelto, yet the liver is not dispersing the xarelto chemical, it’s holding it in the fat causing us to all continue to suffer from side effects. The celery juice cleanses the liver and releases the fat and allows the other organs to flush the fat and drug from body. It’s a slow process but your energy will increase, belly goes down and inflammation is getting less and less. I’ve been only doing it for 3 weeks but big difference. Do all of you know to file a lawsuit? I’m seeing 1000 of complaints, yet if lawsuits are not filed it’s harder to substantiate the claims. When we unite and file together proving claims we strengthen our case and we can get this drug removed!! Banned!!

The info on Serrapeptase is interesting - but people should check with their doctor if taking/prescribed anti-coag meds like Xarelto or Coumadin as there is an interaction.

In all your research did you find anything regulating xarelto to hyperthyroidism or graves disease? Just had to have my thyroid removed because of that and all this with the xarelto and the start of the thyroid symptoms seems to have stated at the same time...try adding lemon water to your regimen and see if it helps lose the fluid retention..that is how I got rid of mine..just a couple slices of lemon in a bottle of water then refill thought the day no new lemon needed...

Omg!! Totally!! I gained so much weight 45 lbs can’t loose it and excessive water retention!!! I can’t be on my feet or sitting within my legs up for more than 30’min extreme exhaustion also weakened limbs... I also hemorrhage’s for a year! I had to have blood transfusion and nearly died several times... it is only by the grace of God that I am alive ... he saved me so many times from nearly dying from this and I only took this less than 2 weeks!!! this stuff should be. Banned... I did some research and found it was banned in Europe after 636 million in claims were paid (keep in mind that is a very high number for Europe they do not do settlements like here in USA) and then the drug was renamed here and remarketed 30% of all people who take it have s severe reaction!! I am currently suing them. I started last year. I can tell you that I juice celery juice organic do not add anything but and take on empty stomach (2 hours before or after eating) helps with inflammation and cleanse liver of the toxins from it and it makes me sleep like a baby I also developed restless leg syndrome from Xatellto and since about 4 days on celery juice it’s gone!!
