Is it true that if you begin to bleed out on xarelto there is no way to stop it like there is with warfarin

Hello, Worrie! How are you?

Yes, that is true. There is nothing available that will counteract its effects, the bleeding has to stop on its own, or someone can bleed out.

Other possible side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

While "k packs" can be used in the case of bleeding with other blood thinners, they are indeed useless with Xarelto. While this sucks if you do get seriously injured, it is also why Xarelto is so much easier for day-to-day living, since the medication is also not effected by diet.

In the case of serious trauma where the bleeding cannot be stopped, a blood transfusion will be needed, essentially to dilute the Xarelto out of your blood. This is why I'd HIGHLY recommend a medical alert bracelet/necklace. Mine says "Xarelto-In case of bleeding transfuse A+" (Obviously you'd want to put your blood yup in there) Not all first responders (EMTs etc) are going to be immediately familiar with Xarelto, and you want to be sure they don't just treat it like any other blood thinner.

I am not a medical professional, but was prescribed Xarelto long-term since I have a clotting disorder. That said, I took it upon myself to learn as much as I could about Xarelto. Additionally, I have a close friend who is a pharmacist who confirmed that Xarelto is the only blood thinner she'd even think of taking :)

So what would happen if you bleed out? The reason I'm asking is because I'm bleeding for the second time in one month and I'm worried. Also having severe cramping and knotting up in the muscles in the leg where I have the blood clot.
