Xarelto And Methotrexate?

Updated

I have been taking Xarelto approx. one month for AFib. Taking this drug terrifies me! I also have a bad case of psoriasis. My dermatologist prescribed many different creams over time but they didn't help at all. Last week he suggested methotrexate but said I would need blood work including a TB blood evaluation. I am so undecided about what to do. Does anyone know of an alternative other than methotrexate for psoriasis? Both of these drugs have such serious side effects it scares me. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mila,

You asked about alternatives for psoriasis. I've been doing some research lately on Nigella Sativa (Black Cumin Seed Oil) for topical application as a psoriasis treatment. NIH posted some clinical studies indicating its use as a remedy for such conditions at:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3785163

A few other potentially noteworthy treatment options (with clinical trials posted on NIH) are: Fish oil, Kukui nut oil, Evening Primrose oil, Avocado oil infused with B12, etc.

I realize most doctors don't advocate for any that's not made in a lab, but I would encourage you to browse through some of these publications on NIH's website to get a more well-rounded perspective on where to go from here.

One last thing I wanted to note is that my brother used to have psoriasis many years ago and was able to thwart its progression through light therapy - something that may also be worth discussing with your dermatologist.

I hope this helps!

Hi there I was onxarelto for 4 months after being on warfarin for 15 yrs with no ptobs except fluctating inr. Xarelto in my opinion wants banning. I had a uterine hemmorage on this nightmare drug! Was hospialised. Ibelieve this was too strong for me I am a 41 yr olf female weighing 54 kgs. I am now anaemic thanks to this drug and my kidneys are showingsigns of distress. Haematologist took me off it straight away and put me on lmw heparin which I'm fine on. As soon as I stopped the xarelto my bleeding stopped!!! In my opinion its one dose fits all and there's no antidote! And women of child bearing age should not be given this drug! I also itched til I bled and passed out on it daily. Give me warfarin anyday, there's not enough research on these so called wonder drugs! They are lethal!
