Xanax Expiration

Is it illegal to take a lesser amount of the dose prescribed? I’m takin an 1/8 of a 2mg Xanax instead of a 1/2 of the pill which my dr prescribed? I am attending a methadone clinic in CA & they are telling me I am taking it incorrectly & since I have pills left my prescription is expired therefore I am taking the meds illegally & they will get in trouble with the DEA for me taking them? I am taking less then originally prescribed also I was told the prescription is only good legally 4 months after written or filled! They expire! Is this True?

There is nothing illegal about this although you stand a very good chance of loosing your Methadone Clinic as they are looking for a certain amount of Xanax in you system

The clinic knows the Xanax were prescribed but since they r saying the script is expired they state they can get in trouble with the DEA for letting me continue taking them?

Yes, that is true if you are in pain management or a methadone clinic. If you don't have a current Rx you are taking an illegal substance.

What if I have a current Prescription and yet still working on bottles dispensed in 2012. As long as your name is on the bottle there should be no problems. I am working on my speech when they find 100 bottles I have, how do I explain that?
