Withdrawl Symptoms

Updated

iam on suboxone 8mg 3x a day my dr has kept me on this for over 2 years and intends to keep me on it the problem is he charges 150 dollars per visit and only gives me enough for two weeks at a time so i have to come back twice a month and pay 300. that in itself i find horrible that he wont give me a month supply just so he can get an extra 150 but anyways the problem is a week and a half ago i was due for a new script but i had a problem with my pay so i wont be getting paid for another 3 to 4 weeks so i cannot afford my appointment i called my doctor and he basiclly said without the money he wont see me now he pushed this drug on me claming it was less addictive then opiates and the withdrawls wouldnt be as bad but they are and i cant even go to my local er i called and explained the problem and they said the best they could do was give me motrin and we all know that will do nothing. is there anything i can do to counter the effects of withdrawl iam very shaky to the point where its like restless leg syndrom but through my whole body and its pure pain. i know from information iam looking at atleast a month of this and worse..now i have been taking vicodin and it helps but i dont want to keep taking that and its also extremly difficult to get ahold of for me. does anyone know of anything i can do to relieve this or of any orginizations that could help pay for an appointment i already have pull perscription coverage for it but almost all suboxone doctors want cash and atleast 150 or more in nj

Hi. I read your post and wonder where in NJ you are located? Your doctor bringing you in every 2 weeks at $150 each time for over 2 years is not right. While most suboxone offices do charge at least $150 for existing patients, it is usually a once a MONTH charge. After 2 years, there is no real reason for you to have to see doctor every 2 weeks. You could attempt to ask him to at least call in a temporary supply over the phone to your pharmacy for you until you have the money to seehim. However, should you ever want to switch doctors/offices for continued treatment (office-based once a month visits), feel free to call my office as listed below. We are taking new patients and appointments are available for this Wednesday, 8/1/12. Thanks and hope your doctor will work with you especially after all the time and money you have with him.

Our office is located in Neptune, NJ. Yes, as you said you are aware, a doctor can write a Rx for Suboxone (or any Schedule III narcotic) for 30 days and up to 2 refills (90 day supply) if he chose to. Also since it is a Schedule III, it can be called in via telephone to a patient's pharmacy. Doctor's do not usually do this, however our office has a "No call in" "No early Med if lost/stolen" etc Policy, but when a patient is seen monthly, the Rx is written for a 30 or 28-day supply (No refills) and, the patient is seen exactly 28 days later. Qty and return appointment length of time is always at our doctor's discretion, however it is rare that a monthly patient would be asked to return for an appointment any sooner than a month later. I have seen it happen only a few times in several years and, it was always for a reason that was understandable whereas even the patient did not disagree and understood the reasoning. Im not sure if your able to pay with CC or Checks with your current doctor but, we do accept Credit Cards & Checks in addition to Cash. Thank you for keeping our office in mind. Call anytime should you decide to inquire about making an appointment (no waiting list). Thanks,
Grace

So sorry to hear this. DR cannot "call-in" suboxone in Florida anyway.
Best choice is to go on a short acting opiate under medical supervision to get off of the suboxone. We detox here in Bahamas with IBO but impossible to go straight from 24mg SUB.
A tough situation but if I were you I would go into the doctors office and refuse to leave until he writes your script. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES detox straight off 24mg SUB.. It will be extremely painful. 24mg is just WAY too much SUB unless you have chronic pain.
