Will Darvocet Ever Be Back In The Usa Legally

I have lupus SLE with a lot of painfull lessions, no appetite, I have broken my neck and the C2 to C3 miss healed by only 2-3mm but that is enough to cause bad pain. I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back. my C7 vertebrae hurts And I have stress lumps at my shoulder where it meets my neck. I am having to take lomotil to keep the several meds I take from causing an explosion of light pee brown pee like diarreha.I also have HPV and was in menopause until I stopped taking steroids to prepare for surgery on my neck which is never going to happen. I hate steroids but they are the only thing I can tolerate & only $4 per month. I take them speratically and am now having periods after not having them for 2 years. I have been very stressed out and don't feel good at all unless I have zanax( which gives me energy to get off my depressed ass) Valium for stress and to relax my neck pain and keep me from acting like a complete b**** from the effects of steroids. And the Darvocet I used to take worked just fine. But the now hydrocodone apap 10/325's I take only 3 but really need 4 to 5 most days. I can't remember a good nights sleep since I broke my neck 3 years ago. Now I am losing my Tenncare because my 62 year old boyfriend starting getting ss retirement and also our sons ss. So we make $1365. Per month and they took our Tenncare and cut our food stamps by $400. And it seems like I qualify for nothing but being in pain and penniless. Was a great mother but now I am so mad and hopeless that I don't know if a sick person should even try to have a family.
I'm constantly fighting to get the help I need to be a good mother and also my lupus will flair due to this stressed out mess.

Good, so I am not the only person years later who still can't get any relief from anything after the fda took a perfectly fine medication off the market for stupid reasons. I have tried EVERYTHING else, all of which makes me sick or almost kills me. But that is apparently safer than a drug I took for 10 years, a drug MILLIONS of people took for DECADES, without any trouble at all. I was in an er getting shot uo with dilaudid.last night because I cant get adequate normal pain relief to keep my condition at bay anymore becauae nothing works, or it almost kills me. This is so stupid, my quality of life has diminished greatly, and I wish we could all band together and get darvocet back, I just dont know where to begin.

Hi Jenny and Melanie! I am very sorry that you are both suffering so badly.

But no, this medication wasn't removed from the market for no reason. It was removed for a very good reasons and many people were harmed over the years, there were even quite a few fatalities.

The first issue was due to the Propoxyphene in it, it was found to be cardiotoxic. Some people taking it suffered heart attacks and other damage to their hearts and it was proven to be the culprit, since those that caught the issues early experienced cessation, once the drug was discontinued.

The second issue was due to overdose, which occurred due to the mild action of the narcotic. People who didn't get immediate pain relief from one tablet, often took several and ended up overdosing on the Acetaminophen in it, which can be fatally toxic.

Thus, though you took it safely for years, without any issues, that is not the experience of everyone else.

Thus no, it will not returning to the market, due to these safety dangers.

The best suggestion I can make in your case, Melainie, is that you talk to your pharmacist to see if they accept any discount drug cards. Most of them are free and it can save you a significant amount on prescriptions.
