I take 3 Tylenol 4's a day & just got 7.5/325mg hydrocodone today. Would lortab 10 or tylenol #4 be stronger than 7.5 hydrocodone? I did not get the script filled yet. Thank you.

Loratab 7.5 is somewhat stronger than Tylenol 4, and normally preffered by pain patients over the codeine in the 4's. The 10's are stronger than the 7.5's.

Hope that helped.

Just wanted to add that according to clinical trials cited on nih.gov, "hydrocodone may be a more effective pain reliever than codeine when it comes to acute musculoskeletal pain. Such results were demonstrated by having significantly fewer treatment failures among patients taking hydrocodone."

Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1928881

This information should help verify the statements made by post #1 to be true.

And I don't mean to nit pick on what was already said, but isn't it obvious that 10 is numerically greater than 7.5? I just didn't understand why someone would even be questioning which dose of hydrocodone is stronger when the answer sits boldly right in front of them?

Perhaps one scenario where this could be argued is the notion that certain inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) may be affecting the quality and bioavailability of the tablet itself, whereas a 10mg dose might theoretically feel like it has the potency of 5mg due to it's inability to be properly metabolized as a result of cheap, toxic, inert ingredients, such as dyes, propylene glycol, genetically modified corn starch, etc..

Given the above information, an addition of various binders/fillers could also affect the comparison between hydrocodone and codeine. Since medications from the pharmacies aren't always pure, you're not just comparing the strength of the active substance(s) but also whether or not the inactive substances are contributing to the absorption or inhibition of all that the tablet is composed of.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

This is really good info. I hadn't thought at all about the cornstarch being GMO. What kind of havoc can that wreak on our systems? I'm tapering off even though I have no idea how I will manage my pain (medical marijuana?) because I just don't trust what the pharmaceutical companies are giving us anymore.

Comparing tylenol #4 to 5mg hydrocodone, how many tylenol #4 would you have to take to equal one 5mg hydrocodone?
