I had a hair follicle test done and it came back positive for amphetamines, and methamphetamine. I was wanting to know if any of the medicines I have been taken can cause a false positive. I have taken adderall, Advil, ibuprofen 800 mg, excedrin migraine, Zantac, night quil, Tylenol, aspirin, Xanax, midol, robaxin, and Abilify. Any information you can give me will be helpful. Thank you for your time.

You can't trust what cps says. They are not doctors or chemist. They also lie to try to get people to admit to things. Ask for proof. Maybe go take your own personal test and compare the results. I have heard fetermine can cause a false positive for meth.

Hey you seem super knowledgable on this topic of Amphetamines. I requested a hair test to show how well I am doing in court to get custody of my youngest son back. I am clean almost 6 months. I am on the medication vyvance. I know vyvance shows as d- amphetamine. Somehow I had a level of 175 of methamphetamines show in my hairfolical....the only other medications I was on is prozac...wellbutrin, sudafed for sinus infection...plus an antibiotic call levaquin. How do you think this happened?

It's the zantac, the reaction of the amphetamine and the zantac causes a false positive for methamphetamine

I take phentermine also and my toenails teat came back with meth/Amphetamine also. I haven’t done meth, haven’t seen meth, haven’t been around meth, etc. I’ve been googling for days for answers. I’m so ready to just cry.

Adderal would cause you to have that in your hair test. Adderal is an amphetamine. I had a hair test and the same thing came out on mine. Hope this helps.

I took a hair follicle test n they took the hair from under my arm n it came back a faint trace of meth. What over the counter meds could have caused that?

I took Nyquil Severe for 5 days & almost drank the whole bottle. Did a company mandate hair follicle and failed it. I was told the med i took has an ingredient that could result in false positive. I stopped doing drugs since I joined the Navy in 93.

Hi. Me and my husband don't do drugs. I am a recovering addict, however cps took our daughter and we have passed our drug test screens that were urine but the hair follicle test came back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamines. We go to court in two weeks. CPS wants another hair test. I take meds from my doctor that will show false positive. What can I do to get our daughter back at upcoming court?

Adderall does NOT contain methamphetamine. It contains 2 versions of amphetamine and 2 versions of dextroamphetamine. It is 75% Dextro-isomer and 25% Levo-isomer. The reason that some tests flag Adderall users for Methamphetamine use, 'could' be that the drug tests used are the cheapest available (purchased by the local county, so do the math) and the tests might use a quick-n-dirty method of looking for street stimulants, which might be to flag anything that's close to being racemic (50-50 between D and L isomers). Adderall is 75-25 D-L so that may be close enough for amateurs, and let's be clear, many of the people interpreting these test results (while possibly good counselors, etc) could probably not pass a college chemistry course, even if their life depended on it.

I too have been thru CPS because of an abusive boyfriend and when they came to my house I passed my urine test. They then told me I had to take a hair test (I later found out that is illegal if you pass your initial test and it falls under the search and seizure laws cause hair and nail test go back for so long they can't prove you did anything wrong while your child was present or if it was an old habit that you recovered from). Anyways, I took the hair test and failed for methamphetamine. I then took a nail test and failed for the same thing. They gave me a urine test all the time and kept failing me for the same thing. I had taken it in the past but I knew I hadn't in a long time. so me and my family along with my lawyer decided to have independent tests run. I cut all the dead off my hair and went and had a my own hair test done and every time they would fail me with a urine test I would immediately leave and go to the hospital and have another done...my case was thrown out of court and my daughter was returned. Remember the labs CPS use works for them and I have yet to meet a CPS worker that genuinely wants to see everything work out in a positive way. Good luck to all of you. I just tested positive for methamphetamine from a hair follicle test I had done on 06-016-2017. Does anyone know if my spiriva inhaler I take once a day will produce a positive test? I know I haven't done no drugs and am very upset about this positive test.

That's the adderall coming up as methamphetamine in his hair follicle. They should know that instead of putting you through all that BS.

My son takes adderall Xr 15 mg i am currently going through a Cps case both my kids where taken back on May the 25th of 2017 because they said my sons hair follicle came back positive for methamphetamine but my 4 yr old daughters hair follicle come back fine please help me

I can believe that. I know for a fact my husband does not do drugs. He's on nasacort or flonase and depending on our budget equate allergy relief; and he has to use nose spray due to pollop. He's had 3 sinus surgeries. Hardly ever takes headache meds. But he failed for methamphetamine and then they said he was using now. It's so sickening when you know that it's not true and someone messed up. So we went do nail samples today, paid out our pocket $250.00 just to show them he's innocent. But now he has no job and there's nothing we can do about it. So I know where your coming from.
