What Medications Given To A Toddler Can Cause A False Positive

Last year my granddaughter was taken from my daughter by office of children's services (she was legally taken from my daughter, but we all live in the same house). They suspected my daughter of doing drugs. immediately after taking my grandaughter who was about 18 months at the time they did a hair follicle test which came out positive for methamphetamine. We believe this test is inaccurate because while my daughter may have done drugs (which is she is working on that) she never did anything around her daughter. I know this because my daughter was not home very much and my grandaughter was almost always being cared for by us (my husband and I, as well as her 4 uncles.) although I know my daughter made some poor decisions she loves her daughter more than anything and would never expose her to anything that would hurt her. I know that a few months prior to all of this happening she was extremely sick and was on several inhalers and other medications. I need to get an exact list from her doctors office and the hospital er she was taken from. of course no one in authority will listen about it possibly being a mistake because they are positive my daughter is 100% guilty even though she was not even required to take a test herself until recently and it's been 8 months since this began. They will not give us our grandaughter because they say we failed to protect her. Although we are going to get a lawyer of our own and fight them.

Was there ANY over the counter medicine that your grand daughter was taken? There's over the counter sinus medicines that WILL CAUSE FALSE POSITIVES I know this to be 100% FACT because it happened to myself & my father when we had taking sinus relief medicine that was over the counter & done a screen. He got his futhered tested & it proved it had been a false positive mine As a type that's useable to make the methamphetamine so that is most likely wgars happened to her as well. Hope this helps. It pays to look it up before taking it & then getting accused of something that's not happened. Also I hope your daughters recovery is going good tell her to keep her head up & keep taking it a day at a time.

I am prescribed ropinarole 3mg x 3 a day, ritalin fast acting 20mg x 4 a day and xanax .5 mg x 3 a day. What effect could these have on a u.a. test.

A lot of information you gave and I hope everything works out. I hate to say I absolutely believe that somehow your grand daughter was exposed to methamphetmaine through her mom. It's a hard pill to swallow but nothing over the counter has given this baby a high positive for methamphetmaine. I notice you asked which drugs could give a false positive instead of saying what your baby took, but I'm sure any pediatrician worth his/her salt, has seen it all when it comes to babies reading positive for a drug.
