night make me have less pain during the day?

Apparently, it works very well for you, there's really no other explanation that can be given for this. Medications sometimes work better for some people than for others and it's usually matter of trial and error to find which one works best for you, without causing unwanted side effects.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it may carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
