Anyone familiar with oxycotin 60mg ? I was getting 60mg oc but I now have 60mg OP..I wasnt told of any change by the pharm. I noticed after taking these I have a rash under my arms and it seems I have to take the breakthru rx more often..Did I get dupped my my pharm. or are these pills new or different than what I was taken??

I am not sure what it is supposed to stand for, but Oxycontin OP is the new product from Purdue and is replacing the original product. It has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse of the medication.
So no, you were not duped. They have discontinued the original and your pharmacy has no choice but to provide you with the new product.
It is claimed to work the same as the original, however, there have been many complaints that is it not as effective and causes unusual side effects.

to answer the question what does the letters OP stand for on an oxycontin tablet? answer oxy purdue and they suck compared to the original formula purdue had before they changed the chemistrey and added a rubber polymer to it. I am looking for a company that has the old formula

i told my pharmacy that i only want the oxy codone 30 with the letter m on one side an 30 on the other side kinda light blue since i was not allowed to look at the oxy's codone 30 which states that on the bottle i then took a look at it after i paid for it an it is the new blue k9 which is all it says can i refund these back an go to walgreen to get the m brand which is what i told the pharmacy i wanted only , i said i only want the m 30 only. please help me out here didn't get what i was told i was getting. when they did this on oxy contin which was the oc brand an strength i got the op brand an it gave me alot of diarea an heart burn had to stop taking them. threw them away , i just wish they would of been honest with me instead of lie to me an told me that they were the m brand, i paid alot of money not to get the one i been getting for years.

I have been taking oxycodone oc for several years ! now its op. I have been getting rashes in differant places, and do not get the relief that my old drug gave me ! I want my doctor too change my meds. this drug is not the same !

I was getting 2 40 mg OC's for almost 10 years. I was also getting 15 mg ir for break through pain. When they changed to OP's they weren't the same. The potency was way off and the new ones have some kind of polymer that prevents crushing,snorting, smoking or shooting them. That was fine with me, but the potency was way down with the changes. After a good talk my Dr. put me on 4 1/2 30 mg oxycodone hcl. which is 135 mg. a day. This Dr. knows pain and after 10 years without abuse, he was fine giving me the pure hcl as opposed to the new OP's, which only turn abusers to something like heroin or what I'm now getting. The new Drs. are taught that everyone needing pain relief is just a junkie. This is very sad for someone new to chronic pain. I'm lucky to have such a compassionate doctor and not one of thees cookie cutter one policy fits all brainwashed yuppys.

Hello, i have kept away from posting anything related to pain medication on the internet, only reason being, "I am a 1 finger typist and the last grade completed was the 6th (putting myself into that higher scholastic realm with “Jetho”) Anyway, ready or not !!!! Now here come’s my b****’n I am 68yrs old, Army vet. “67-70" retired from State of Michigan Dept. of corrections working at 4 different facility’s from a level 1 camp, level’s 2 thru 4 medium/close & last 20+yrs at a level 5-6 max. most of which was ad-seg. (the hole). This old beat up body of mine has had 8 surgery’s last one being 31/2 weeks ago (cervical 3 fusions and a permanent metal plate) Anyway, i suffer from chronic pain!!! I have never once in my 15yrs of taking these pills, asked my doctors for early refills, or made up lies, saying someone stole them, or i accidentally dropped em in the toilet or any other lame excuse ! I am so sick of the AMA or the DEA’s inability to control the irresponsible users and abusers, so they spread ridiculous rumors and lies about a pain pill epidemic in this country. WAKE UP AMERICA!!! the next one suffering could be you. Yes there are more people using pain meds than ever before. 1st people are living to be alot older than ever before, 2nd this is the baby boomer generation so there are many, many more of us than ever before, and 3rd we are the generation that has not been completely brain washed into believing drugs are evil. i watched my grandfather and my father trying to get around hunched over using first a cane then walkers, suffering needlessly in chronic pain, having no life because they will not do drugs ! how sad it was to watch that. We are not that generation, i put in my sacrifice for this country, 1st the military in the US ARMY then in the prison system PRISON GUARD. Both cost me dearly. How can they decide (the DEA) how much of what a patient needs instead of his or her Doctor!!!!
