Hi, I went to the clinic because I was experiencing lower left abdominal pain. I did a u/a at the clinic and there was blood 2+ and leukocytes 2+. So I was given metronidazole 400mg 5 tablets as a single dose and doxytet 100mg daily for 7 days. Immediately after taking 1st dose of doxy, I went on my menstrual cycle and it doesn't seem to stop. What could be the problem? Pls help a sister out.

Antibiotics can alter your cycle, things should return to normal a week, or so, after finishing your course of treatment, according to the NIH. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

If the bleeding becomes very heavy, or doesn't stop soon, then you should consult your doctor.

Is there anything else I can help with?
