Vicodin Drs Who Prescribe In Virginia

I have 3 herniated/bulging discs in my back, RSD, fibromyalgia, was in an accident & spent 14 yrs having surgeries on my right ankle to save it (between 1977 & 1991! i had a compound fracture, bones laying outside my foot, gangrene, osteomyelitis etc.) Dr saved my foot thank God but I've been in & out of casts,leg braces, wheel chairs etc ever since yet i still worked from 1980 to 2003 while dealing with all this. Vicodin along wth methadone helps without making me so doped up I'm bed ridden but new Dr won't prescribe either so Sheens taking me off them slowly but by next month..August she will no longer give me either! I'm terrified of the pain I'll be in as she's reduced so much I'm feeling every pain, disc, & broken bone I've ever had already! Fits anyone know of a Dr in central Virginia who will treat me as an individual & not as an addict or someone who pretends they need them just to get high? These people have made it so hard for those of us who really need them :(

Are you seeing a general practitioner or a pain management specialist?

With the new regulations that went into effect as of April 1st, to continue getting medications for long-term chronic pain treatment, you're really going to have to see a specialist. A lot of changes have been made to what a GP can prescribe and how long they can prescribe it.

You most likely will have to give up the Vicodin as it is being transitioned to something that is only used for a short period of time, such as for a few weeks after someone has been in an accident or had surgery.

Thank you for the reply. However I'm not concerned with being addicted as I'll have to be on pain meds the rest of my life anyway..that's why i don't undrstand how these pain meds that really help people like me can just be stopped! I've tried ultram, I've tried darvocet (i hear propoxyphene is orhas been stopped already) & then there's ms contin or oxycontin..are they stopping then too? I've deliberately stayed away from them thinking since methadone & vicodin gave me some quality of life i wouldn't be seen as a pill popper or pill seeker..are they phasing them out too? Its really rubbish that i feel like bcz these meds are addictive & greedy people have lied about they'r pain to get these meds to sell or just to get high on that I'm being left in excruciating pain with no help in site..makes me understand why people in chronic pain turn to street drugs or commit suicide because they aster like me..in real pain..not stubbed my toe pain but real, excruciating pain!
