Use Of Levipil 500 On First Seizure

My son 10yrs old had a single and first episode of a possible seizure on 3rd oct 2014. His eeg (4 oct) and 11 nov are normal. MRI brain plain 4 OCT and MRI brain 31 jan 2015 are normal. He is absolutely normal and healthy, no problem in coordination, plays normally, takes good diet.

Yet, doctor has prescribed levipil 250 BD for 7 days and then 500 BD after 7 days. I have not started him on this drug.

Please advise, if I should start him on this drug.

Hello Sir,

My son is having the same problem that i read in your post. Can you suggest me whether my son should continue the medicine or not? He perceived this problem on 14th dec 2015, and doctor prescribed levipil 500. He is continuing this medicine till date (23rd Dec 2015). Please suggest. Thanks in advance. {edited for privacy}

I think you should continue with this, i am no expert but i had a similar situation where in all my reports were absolutely fine but still i was put on eptoin (similar drug) as precaution but after taking it for 2 years i stopped against the advice of my doctor and within two months of that i got another seizure. And i have been put on livipil as it's better then eptoin with less/no side effects.
