I was prescribed Tussionex syrup for an acute bronchial infection, along with an antibiotic and an inhalant. I took the Tussionex before I went to bed, and was not able to sleep a wink all night. I had a similar reaction to another cold medication about 5 years ago. Is this common? Have others reported this?

I TOOK IT FOR 3 MONTHS WHEN I HAD WHOOPING COUGH LAST YEAR. I AM 70 YRS OLD. IT IS THE BEST THING TO STOP A COUGH SO I COULD GET SOME SLEEP. I WENT TO THE ER at the hospital. The ER doctor said it was the best cough medicine there is. I finally could sleep. My own doctor did not want to prescribe it as it has narcotic or something but it is the only thing that helps. It is available and Tussionex works.

Lu (# 1) - That has happened to me when I'd take too much! But opiates always made me up and ready to go. Now that I'm on Methadone it does me the same way if I'd taken a little extra.
