Updated

Why is trepiline prescribed, what should it do to your body? I feel no difference since been on 25g a night, other than sleeping better I take it with a sleeping pill as well.

Are you referring to Amitriptyline? This is an antidepressant.

It can cause drowsiness, nausea, weight gain and dry mouth.

You can read more about it here:

You may be a fortunate person who doesn't experience most of the side effects, this does happen for some people.

Do you have any other questions?

Trepiline has caused severe migraine as well as vomiting, am I right in thinking it was the trepiline? I am taking it with an anti depressant, a high blood pressure tablet as well as half a sleeping tablet at night

I am a 46 year old female. Have suffered lower back (more so inside the left hip/side) pain for the past 7 years. The last couple of months I wake up continuously at night from the pain so decided to see whatever specialist I could to help me overcome the pain and sleep better. Approx 10years ago I had an infiltration done to alleviate pain in my coccyx which worked like a miracle. Three years ago I was also injected at Back to Life which brought no relief. I was on lyrica, Celebrex and tramacet for approx 3 years. Last year October I decided to leave the medication thinking I cannot take pills forever. My pain returned to such an extent that I could hardly sleep at night. my GP prescribed Sovenor patches -no more pain but I was continuously nauseas and then had a skin reaction so discontinued them. In May the neurosurgeon did an infiltration and I am not sure whether this, or the new medication, actually worked. I also have restless leg syndrome for which I take .125mg Pexola nightly The pain back/hipwas still there and I still didn't sleep too well. I was then prescribed the following: 1 x 10mg Trepiline, 1 x 200g Celebrex, 2 x 50mg Tramacet for the back and to help me sleep. Then I also drink Puricos. All this medication I take at night. If the back bothers during the day I drink 2 Tramacet.

I must say this last medicine prescription seems to be working well - much less pain and only waking up once or twice a night. My question - are these medications safe to be taken for a long period of time? My neurologist says it is but I would like another opinion.

I have a back problem - bulging vertebrae causing a stretched nerve. Incredibly painful which affects my daily life, like I cannot walk for longer than 5 minutes and can hardly sleep at night. The doctor prescribed Lyrica as well as Sovenor 10mg patches. I wonder if I can take these two together or should I stop the Lyrica and only use the Sovenor patches? I am a diabetic and also have to take Glucophage and Diamacron on a daily basis.

I have had a lower back operation and have had a heart attack about 10 years ago. I crawled under a desk to pull a plug out of its socket and could not get up again. My lower back has been in a spasm ever since. Very little mobility without the pain. I was given Trepiline 10 today and said take one at night. Would this be in order or should I rather go to the GP again?
