The active ingredient in this is Amitriptyline, most commonly prescribed for depression, but also used to help treat bed wetting.

Some of the most common side effects include: dry mouth, extreme weight gain, nausea and dizziness.

Thanks for your info. My concern now is that my daugher is only 5 & secondly I am worried about the weight gain and addiction probabilities. Should I be giving her the medication?

Well, this site is not medical professionals here, so I cannot advise you what you should and should not give your daughter.

What I can suggest, though, is that you talk to your doctor about your concerns.

Thank You for your advice. I did speak to my doctor and he has advised that in such a small dosage it is perfectly safe for children.

I am 58 now, when I was 15 or 16 and had chronic bedwetting problem, our doctor recommended I take a tablet which was prescribed for weightloss, I'm pretty sure, but a side affect of the medication was that it was fixing bedwetting problems. Budda Bing...in a week I had fixed my bedwetting problem.

I am also on this drug, but my mother told me the prescribed is to help with my headaches. Is this true or is she lying to me?

I am also using Trepiline. My mom told me the docter said it would lower my adrenalin levels in my body so on the long term it would help with headaches. Now all I see is the fact that it is an anti-deppressant. Did my mother lie to me or does this drug really help with headaches?

Hi Liz
I am sure your mom is telling the truth. I have a fused 5th and 6th vertebra in my neck causing extreme headaches due to my neck and shoulder muscles having to compensate for the lack of flexibility in my neck. The doc also prescribed Tripiline 10mg for my headaches.

Good day,
My son is 8 years old and has been diagnosed with chronical seperation anxiety and post dramatic stress. I have taken him to several people but no one has been able to tell me what the root of the problem is. I just couldnt take it any more and asked my doctor to prescribe me something for him. He gave me 25mg of Trepilene to give one in the evening? Isnt this a bit strong and will something happen to him if I give him that? He doesnt have problems at night, the anxiety is in the morning when he must go to school? So I dont know what to think?

Hi, I have just been prescribed Tripeline 10mg for my headaces and if it doesn't go the dr wants to lift the dosis. I must say it has been 3 days now and I don't wake up with the headache so severe anymore, but now I am very sleepy all the time. My work consists of lots of driving and I hope it won't intervere. At least the headaches are not so bad anymore!

HI, I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and have been on a 100mg dosage of Trepilene for 10 years. It changed my life. The important thing to remember is, take it early enough to ensure you get 8 hours sleep before you need to wake up. When my alarm goes off, I'm ready to take on the world. Don't take it at 11.00pm, you'll be sleepy the whole day. I normally take mine at 19.00 and am asleep at 21.00 or 21.30. I have my life back, and wake up 90% of the time pain free. Thanks to Trepilene.

I'm taking 30mg per day (in the evening) for chronic pain from an old whiplash injury. I've been on it for a week now, but still have to drink as much myprodols, tramaset & migril as before. My Dr prescribed trepiline to get away from all the other drugs. Should I have felt the benefit already?

I have the same problem with dizzyness and bad head aches. I started the Trepiline 10mg and found that the headaches got less and less but gave up on the Trepiline as my dizzyness stayed the same after 3 weeks.

I've been on 10mg for nerve pain in face following trauma and find it takes a week to 10 days to work well. I stop it on weekends. Take it early or you'll feel hung over the next morning.
