Hi. I was on Topamax 50mg at bedtime only for a month. I lost 15 lbs, fuzzy brain, but most of all terrible thoughts of not wanting to go on, depressed constantly. Been off only 2 weeks. I still am depressed a lot, not nearly as much but my appetite is non-existent. I use to have a big sweet tooth now I can't stand anything sweet. Does anyone know how long till it's out of your system and have you experienced anything like this and how long did it last? Thanks in advance. By the way, I call the drug the demon, I am glad for people who it works for, but others like myself need to be really careful on it. Good luck to all.

Hello, Ann! How are you doing? Has anything improved, yet?

It can sometimes take a month, or so, before the side effects go away and you start to feel more normal. If not, then you should consult your doctor.

Are you on any other medications?

Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, can include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, stuffy nose and change in taste.

The change in taste may be why you can't stand sweets, right now.

I have only taken Topamax 25mg twice a day for 3 days for migraine prevention. I cannot tolerate the side effects. When (how many days) can I expect this medication to be out of my system?
