Just to clear things up, the round, yellow tablet with the 124 on it in black is a 40mg Pantoprazole delayed release tablet, a generic for Protonix.

No, this is not the same active ingredient as what is in Nexium, though it is in the same family of medications, proton pump inhibitors.

They work by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach to help treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.

Side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness and stomach pain.

And Jean, always feel free to contact your pharmacy and ask, if you aren't sure. It's better to be safe and double check, rather than end up taking the wrong medication.

Are there any other questions or comments?
