The Dark Side Of Prolixin Decanoate

Through a series of medical blunders I inadvertently was flung into a prolixin study. I first was misdiagnosed with manic depressiveness. I perhaps had social phobias, but much more essentially was the recipient of childhood sexual abuse, beginning around one and a half or two. Because of auditory hallucinations, which I am convinced was result of lithium toxicity, this being the 1970's and testing was more imprecise, also my treatment was supervised by a university psych. intern. I never previously had experienced anything of the sort, but this was used to justify prolixin use. however, I was in the study population half not given side effect medication and experienced horrendous neuro-muscular side effects, rendering me unable to function as a student, eventually becoming homeless, unable to eat, everything tasted metallic, wasting away, with muscle spasms and contortion recurring so frequently it impeded walking, speech, and because apparently the crap is habituating, university cops would find me in convulsions and drag me to the psych. research clinic where they'd shoot me up with this criminal substance. I spent two years in absolute hell, I believe the victim of criminal malfeasance. Its lasting impact on my life has been profound and as I age the pain intensifies during stressful periods. I wish to now, with slow but gradual internet-building skills to hopefully connect with other survivors of this horrible assault on our humanity, to I guess, increase my education of what actually was done to me, how I can attempt to offset the effects, and help build a survivors' network.

In some respects I"m doing great, in other ways, not so. After spotty employment for many years I"ve held down a job for seven or eight years, and it's one in which I work with people with psych. disabilitites on job and social skils, in a work center, usually 12-18 at a time. I've also started some peer counseling, studying for and passing the state certification exam So it's pretty rewarding work. But as I age, a whole slew of sever pain centers are acting up, no doubt stress triggerred at times and definitly enhanced by stress. The nature of the pain, the locations for example really seem to be indicative of long term neuro damage from the prolixin. I"m not too internet savvy, but the interest in blogging and or other communcations is definitely there, especially if it's a possibility for networking and or/helping others.

Well, in spite of what all the misspellings of my original post might suggest, I'm doing fairly well now. I work with mental health consumers in a small specialized employment agency as a certified peer specialist. It's just that there's still a lot of unresolved anger with the corporate psych. system, so I have to be careful and deliberate in what I chose to do. I don't want to jeapordize years of relative stability.
