Telma H 40/met Xl 25

Updated

Hi,

I am a 62 year old male and have been diagnosed with essential hypertension (180/70). My physician has advised telma h in the morning and met xl 25 mg in the afternoon. For how long should I take the medicine? Will it be forever or the condition can improve over time and I can discontinue using these medicines?

There is no cure for hypertension, it is a condition that can only be controlled, according NIH reports, so you should take the medications for as long as your doctor instructs you to do so. The typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

However, you may be able to get off of them some day, because proper diet and exercise can also help control blood pressure. Lots of fruits and veggies, low salt foods and low fat foods can all help.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi this is sowmya. My mother age 50 has been diagnosed with hypertension for 8yrs. The physician advised her to take staminobeta. Recently she has undergone angiogram and has also been advised to take clopitab 150mg, atocor 80mg, monit 2.6mg, met xl 25mg.. And after three months we went back for a review and the doctor had reduced the medication to ecospirin 20mg, met xl 25mg, and telma h 40mg.. Having diagnosed bp at 130/90... Is it safe to take such high doses at this stage? Kindly reply.. Thank you.
