Talwin DOES NOT contain Aspirin! It contains the active ingredient Pentazocine, it is a narcotic, so it is in the same drug class as Demerol, but is a different medication. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Talwin PX also contains Pentazocine, it is just a different brand name for it.

Some common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation.

thanx Verwon the Talwin compound has aspirin..I have researched but can only find info that @ tablet contains 350mg of aspirin & was hoping to find a combo w/ less mg of aspirin. Thank you for pointing out is is like demerol, however demerol is a class II and Talwin is a class IV so I am hoping if I decide to make the switch there will be less pressure around the cranial area & also just less pressure getting the medicine..Pain management clinics have become homes for junkies & those of us truly in pain have to wade through the murk to get our meds.urine/swab tests.being treated poorly dealing w/ low lifes that hang out around the bldg....I am tired of it..it is just I have soooo many allergies to other meds like codeine & steroids I nearly died from one tablet of Loritab once that the doctor prescribed & to chang meds is a scarry thing for me to consider...but thank you sooo much for caring & responding

TALWIN MEDICATION> I'm new at chatting and posted before. Medical research shows that Talwin medication significantly helps people with redhair with chronic pain ... it is a genetic thing. Much evidence. Can't find resource for Talwin med in U.S. in 2013. I am in SEVERE NERVE PAIN and am a redhead. Also, FYI, redheads need more anesethesia during surgery and different pre-med prep. Dentists are trained for redheads have extra nerves in the lower sides of the mouths, next to the lower pockets of their molars. Until I found a dentist who knew this and deadened those extra nerves, I had horrible pain when there was work on my lower molars!!! Tons of medical research about a gene missing in redheaded people causing need for special pain treatment. WHERE CAN I FIND TALWIN IN PILL FORM IN U.S. or EXACT PILL under different name??? ALSO, I am in Milwaukee, WI. NO GOOD PAIN DOCS here that I have found so far or who are up on research. NEED GREAT PAIN DOC NAMES AND LOCATIONS, LOCAL/NEARBY IF POSSIBLE. I HAVE FIBROMYALIGA, ARTHRITIS, SEVERE BOWEL INFLAMATION, HERNIATED LOWER BACK AND NECK DISKS TO START ... I AM A BUNDLE OF PAIN. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!!! COCO

I've been on Talwin 50mg Petazocine for a few years now for pain, but today I went to my first doctors appointment with a new doctor and the first thing she did was change my pain meds. She insisted on taking me off the Talwin and replacing it with Tramacet 325mg-37.5 mg tablet. She's giving me 15 pills to try to see if they work, I am terrified to switch meds because she also informed me that the new pill is a narcotic and if I stay on it that I would have to fill out paperwork saying I am taking a narcotic. I am a cook by trade and am going to a remote camp to work starting July 17 until the end of September, I wanted to be left on the meds I'm on until I return then I'll have the time to sit down with her so she can change things around if she likes. She told me that Talwin is a narcotic and I said it has been put into the same category as all the other narcotics even though it is not. Can you tell me if this new pill Tramacet is highly addictive and what are the side affects?
