Taking Suboxone After Methadone

PLS HELPPP! i was on methadone for 3 years...went from 80mg down to 20mg...then switched to suboxone...been on it for about 3 months maybe 4...on 16mg...but im having a lotttt of pain problems...i have severe headaches...i feel nauseated all the time... can barely sleep (which is a lot due to the pain) and my dr. has yet to find anything...the methadone is out of my system...i guess where im getting at is can this be due to withdraw symptoms from the methadone even though its not in my system? and has anyone dealt with something similar? and if so what did you do?? ( especially for the pain )

on a side not does anyone one have any recommendations for relieving severe pain while on suboxone...or even methadone?!?!

It sounds like you actually may be on too low of a dose of the Suboxone. like it's just not quite enough.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

It isn't likely that you'd still be experiencing withdrawal symptoms after 3 months.

Hi Pls Helppp, I was on 110 of methadone. Started 2 taper after almost 5 years. When I got down to 24, I was in such withdrawals. My Dr put me on suboxone. But , I had 2 increase 2 times b 4 I felt good with no withdrawals. As Dr Verwon said," u might need an increase." I would talk to your Dr or clinic, and, let them know. There's no need 4 u 2 have 2 suffer. Let us know how u make out.

I have been on 8mg sublingual suboxone for over a year, which contains Naloxone and i haven't had to bad of headaches but my brother for example can not handle what appears to be some reaction to the Naloxone. He went the other route and was prescribed Subutex which I have even noticed less headaches and zero nausea. Hope that gives u a little helo. . Try just plain ole Subutex / no Naloxone in them.

I've taken probably 30 mgs in the last 4 days missing today and did 5mgs yesterday at 8 am. i get a different answer overtime or rather, i can't find anyone coming off of such a small amt? good luck

Been battling the off and on opiate addiction and then did what i wish i never started, methadone. I've never, as a patient asked to go over 60 mgs. however, i've weened down so much, didn't think 30 to 5-8 every other day would hurt but i do. It's derby in louisville and i can't be sick bartending tonight. you think the 2 mg suboxone would hurt me with as little as i have in me. i used to start my symptoms like all else chills, skin crawling (i want to unzip my skin and peal it off) but now, hoping due to I'm off and on with it the suboxone MAY work for me since I'm not on a consistent or high dose? please? lol I'm ready to act my age.

16 mg of suboxone is a high dose. When I was on them that’s what they initially prescribed me but I couldn’t function, sick to my stomach. I took 8 mg for about a week & then weaned myself down to 2 mg, but that’s not enough for some people. Are you on an anti inflammatory? I take meloxicam, generic of Mobic. It does help me. I just weaned myself off of 80 mg oxycotin a day & I didn’t think I’d be able to stand the pain when I completely stoped. But it’s not near as bad as I thought. I get a massage once a week, walk & I seem to have less pain. And I use to experience MAJOR pain. Back, neck & both knees. I hope you find you answer.
