Old fashioned over the counter patent laxative much more effective as insect repellent. Where can I buy some? Last supply came from a Bertram, Tx, prarmacy closing down in the 1970s.

These are still available from a few companies and can be ordered online.

One that you may wish to try doing a Google search for is Red Arrow Lemon & Cream of Tartar with Sulfur, it is a wafer form of it, sold as a supplement.

Does anyone else know of any?

Third generation recipe for boils....
1 T Epsom salt, 1 T sulfur, 1 t cream of tartar put into
1 quart of hot water, mix and shake well before using. Take only 1 T each morning....no more.

This eliminated boils in a child when 2 weeks of daily shots did nothing.

I went to lemoncreamoftartarwithsulfur.com and it said the production of Red Arrow Lemon & Cream of Tartar with Sulfer wafers has been temporarly shut down by the government. They are trying to cut through all the red tape but haven't yet. They are supposed to post to that website if/when they find another facility to make it (or you can sign up for an email notification). Posted 08/22/2014

In the 1950s I worked in survey crew and was in the woods a lot with all kinds of insects. Accidentally found the Cream of Tartar and Sulfur tablet the best insect repellant ever made. I am glad for the Internet where can now get them again as about 20-years ago i couldn't.

I take MSM supplements for boils (although I haven't had them in a long time now) since I couldn't find the cream of tatar and sulfur tablets anymore. MSM is somewhere around 30% sulfur, and boils and even acne just go away. I take 500 mg three times a day like is says on the label. I use to have boils real bad with cores the size of the end of your finger in them, that would have to be lanced and removed. Very painful. Now if I think I am getting one I just take the MSM and it goes away and stays away for a long time.

The only side effect I have had is occasional diarrhea, and if you pass gas you will clear a room quickly.

If you are allergic to sulfur or sulfur based compounds, this is of course not an option for you, but if you can take it, it is inexpensive, and easy to find, and hopefully will work as well for you, as it did for me.

Thank you. I was looking for a recipe for that. I found where I can order some, but it's better if you can make your own.

Re: Lee Goe (# 13)

Took me a while to find it, because they have changed what they call it to "Tarsul". I have ran into so many dead ends, but this one looks legit.

We used cream Tartar wafers as a child when working in the fields. Not only did they keep most insects from biting, they kept the chiggers away. I would like to find them again.
