Sulfamethoxazole Trimethoprim 800 160 Can It Be Use For 60 Days?

I am 24 yrs old and has this acne problems in my back for years. My mom tried so many different cleanser such as neutrogenia for acne body wash. Been using it for years. I just recently went to a dermatology and prescribed me with this sulfameth trimethoporim 800 160 .. my mom is concerned that the qty is for 60 days. Is this too much ?

Antibiotics are commonly prescribed for acne that is resistant to other treatments, since it has been sound that some of it is bacterial in nature. They are usually prescribed for 2 months, or more.

Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

I was on this medication for a year for acne and now I am resistant to it and cant take it for other more serious things like ear infections and bladder infections because my body has built up a tolerance for it and it never got rid of the acne!! Now I have to take even more potant antibiotics for bladder infections and stuff like that because I took this medication for so long. Be careful taking an antibiotic for a long time because getting resistant to antibiotics is not a good thing. I am now on a topical antibiotic gel for my acne which is working well and I won't become resistant to it because it is not an oral medication. Good luck to you.
