I have what I think were some type spider or some other type of insect bites 5 of them, they sort of look like a Brown Recluse bite, but not as bad. They turned into ugly open sores within a few hours, just like a Brown Recluse Spider bite would do. The doctor says the it now looks like cellulitis, that's a skin infection below the outer skin layers. So the bites went deep into the hypodermis skin layers .My doctor gave me some other type of antibiotic for 10 days 2000 mg a day. They cleared up some, but are still ugly pits, Yesterday, the doctor gave me the SMT 800/160 drugs. Take 2 per day, for 10 days. As of tonight, I have not had any side effects, but with only 4 pills in my system, it may be to early for side effects to show up. I will try to come back later in the week and post an up date how the drug is working to solve my infection...........

Sorry about the insect bites and the complications that developed. Some spider bites can do that.

This is a generic for the antibiotic Bactrim, it's used to treat many types of infections and you may experience side effects such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash.

Learn more Bactrim details here.

However, this one is pretty notorious for having allergic reactions show up very far into treatment, for example you may take it for 9 days without any major problems, then suddenly break out in hives. If you do, contact your doctor immediately.

When I took it, I made it 9 and a half days in, I had one more dose to go! :-/

How are you feeling?

smz/tmp is a two-in-one antibiotic and is very effective in case it is a spider (recluse ) bite or doc treated my recluse bite with the same dose of the same drug 6 months bite has been closed(healed) for 2 months or so.the brown recluse bite kind of digests(?) the tissue where you were bitten. my doc called it necrotic(sp) tissue and had to be cleaned out 2x a week.dont be impatient or take any drugs not prescribed for you PLEASE. my brother did on january 4th 2001 and joke.its not worth saving a few bucks.hope you heal with minimal scarring.

Got a spider bit the resemble a brown recluse bit on my index finger, my p.c.p gave me Cephalexin 500 MG, 2 days later went to a infection specialist and got Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 160, and Mupirocin ointment, and soaking my finger in Epsom Salt mix with water, can already see an improvement in 48 hours, still need to continue to treat but hopefully optimistic, no fun mixing 3 Antibiotic, however the end will justify it.
