Solodyn contains the active ingredient Minocycline, this is a Tetracycline antibiotic, which is used, in some cases, to treat severe cases of acne.

Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.

As to the photosensitivity issue, some medications can make you more susceptible to the heat of the sun, causing you to get sunburnt faster than normal or heat stroke. This medication can cause this reaction, so it is best to minimize sun exposure during treatment.
