Side Effects Of Sodium Hydroxide In Medications

In one of my rx is sodium hydroxide. Every time I take this , I get a migraine for days. What are the side effects if this PH balancer in my injection?

Hi, Char! Very sorry about the migraines, that's terrible!

Usually, these types of things are used because they're considered inactive and side effect free.

However, as you've personally experienced, you can still be sensitive to one of them and I believe that's most likely what you're experiencing.

Have you talked to your doctor about it?

I'm not sure if you can find one that doesn't contain it, but there may be a way to try to prevent the migraines.

Yes, I have seen 3 drs. None of them knew that this was what was causing them. My pharmacist and I figure it out. I took a name brand rx had no problems. then my insurance said I had to used generic rx. Then my migraines increased. We could not figure out what was the cause except hormones etc.... Than we went away for a few days and I forgot my meds and had to go to the pharmacy and get some to hold me over and it was name brand~~~~~~ for 4 days no migraine. When I got back I call my dr and she called the pharmacy for name brand and the ins would not approve it. The Pharmacist and I look at all the ingredients and found that it had sodium hydroxide. That is the only difference in the 2 drugs. Also I have allergies to sea salt. So I have resolved it to be this PH balance ~ sodium hydroxide. Still have not got my name brand approved yet. It have been 6 weeks.
