Is there danger in mixing these types of pills in a three hour period? I just started taking these medications this past week. I have been on Xanax for 6 yrs taking three 1mg a day. Just recently I added the 20mg Oxycontin. I have been taking three 10/325mg of lortabs/hydrocodone off and on for the past 6 years.

No specific medical advice can be dispensed for drug abuse. Mix these substances only under a Doctor's supervision!

Elizabeth; please be very careful with every single medication you take... without knowing the full extent of your medical history; all i can say is proceed with caution. just because someone may react differently to one type of medication doesnt always mean that it will be the same for everyone else..SO PLEASE PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION...

Eddy is right. Their side effects are probably risky enough on their own, but taking them together within that short period of time probably isn't going to make much of a difference than if you were to actually take them both in one sitting.

Having been on those heavy medications for such a long time, I'd imagine your tolerance must be pretty high; but at the same time you still gotta watch out for potential drug interactions. Some reports I found online show an increased risk of dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, and even impaired thinking as just a few common adverse reactions that can occur when you mix xanax and oxycodone.

In my opinion, with proper dosing some side effects could probably be avoided. However you should definitely discuss this with your doctor first just to play it safe.

I hope this helps!

I wouldnt do it. Sounds too risky and too likely to have a side affect that could be life threatening. Not sure why your taking all these but I would sure space them out at least 4-6 hours apart minimum.

Xanax creates the wonky, dizzy feeling but with your tolerance you probably just feel normal (especially on a lower dose). Hydrocodone/Tylenole x3 probably just make you a little numb because you've been on them so long as well. And the Oxycottin/codone* is what will put your d*** in the dirt. You're mixing 3 mild opiates, with a strong opiate, obviously making it stronger. Not only that but a "high dose" of opiates (30mg Hydros + 20mg Oxy) affects your brain chemistry which the xanax also affects, causing the "adverse" affects (wonky). Unless you're under 130lbs or have any serious health conditions hiding in the shadows you'd be fine. WORST CASE SENARIO you puke a lot, fall asleep and exfixiate yourself in your sleep = COULD BE FATAL... But probably not.

Mixing pain pills that strong no matter what your tolerance can cause you to have shallow breathing and then you add 2 mg Xanax which makes you sleepy is a bad combination if I were you only take the loratab when taking the Xanax and take the oxycontin by itself when your not taking the other two better safe than sorry

Obviously its not drug abuse! She obviously received the prescriptions from a Dr.!! Dr.s always check to see if its safe to be taken together and obviously it is. If it works for you and helps with pain and anxiety than good. I hate people that have never been in pain and are so quick to judge and call it drug abuse! SMH! She's getting it from a pharmacy not the corner. Keep small minded opinions to yourself
