Hi there :) I have found a small, round pale yellow pill with a 40 written in brown on one side and blank on the other. It is not at all smudged. I have been searching the net, but cannot figure out what it is.

Hi there,

I've come across at least a handful of pills that have a very similar description (being off by just one letter or number)...but nothing seems to fit that exact description.

I did however notice the original thread starter (LadyLuck) mention that the number was listed as "40" in her description, but "50" in her topic title. I'm not finding the number "50" anywhere, but I did see a round yellow pill marked with "40" on one side and blank on the other.

The number 40 is also in black or dark brown print, just as you described.

If you believe this to be your pill, then it's identified as a 40mg Tecta (pantoprazole magnesium) tablet from Canada; which is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

For verification, the Drug Identification Number is 02267233

Please post back if you feel that this could be a match. I hope this helps!

I believe I have found the pill you are speaking of. Google 40 mg tecta. If it's the same, it's an antacid . Mainly for relief of heartburn.
