Purdue's New Oxycontin Op

Updated

I've been on oxycontin 80 mg for years, I suffer from severe degenerative disc disease and c.p. These new OPs are junk, its almost like they added rubber cement to the pills. Breaking them down w/sandpaper or a cheese gratter isnt going to do anything other than gum up as soon as it hits your nose, because u r haven't removed the time release from the pill. Heat and/or moisture are what cause it to gum up....all your gonna end up w/is a really expensive booger.... people have to figure out how to remove this new time release polymer. W/the old OCs u could remove the time realease by cooking crushed OC, the time release was more like a wax so it was possible to remove w/heat then cold...someone who understands chemical equations and formulas needs to take a look at the new formula to see if there is anyway to isolate the oxycodone w/o activating the time release polymer....I doubt its possible because this is what purdue set out to change. They wouldn't spend all this money if they hadn't come up with solution to the problem..... my question is what's the difference between TheOPs and the generic OCs? The problem w/the generic OCs was that it would gum up....I could never take the generics because the gummy time release makes me nausiated...so my other question is what's the next best opiate that has immediate release (injectable and/or sniffable if not oxycontin....?

Wow, VERWON hasn't mislead or spammed his same OP agenda on this thread? Truly amazing. Sadly he will be by shortly to lie about how the OPs are unbeatable and must only be taken AD.

peace

Call the FDA and complain, not ask the fox at Perdue to watch your chickens. File an adverse report with the FDA so this adverse reaction gets reported properly.

Dear been on Oxycontin 80's for years: if you have a ligitamate sickness and need painkillers why don't you take them as f***in needed then the drug companies wouldn't of had to change them in the first f***ing place! so why don't you get your ass off the computer trying to get people to give u the formulation to cook them and get your ass into something more productive like therapy for instance, that is if you really have anything wrong with you!

I do not mislead or spam. If you look at my post, you will see I am the moderator and work at this site.

I simply post the truth regarding medications and whether or not certain practices are dangerous.

And, in this case, injecting tablets that are not meant to be used that way is very dangerous. There are fillers in these tablets that are not meant to be broken down by the human body and can create blockages in both the lungs and blood vessels.

Anyone that wishes to can easily check and research any information that I post.

To the OP, if you need something that works faster, than you can safely inject, those types of narcotic pain medications are available and you should speak to your doctor about prescribing them, instead of tablets. If they will not help you, then it may be time to see another doctor.

One such product available would be Morphine, it isn't quite as strong as Oxycodone, so you would need a higher dosage, but it is very effective for most people.

I totally agree with the moderator. I take oxy's also. Directed by physician. But they ARE s**t. I am now in pain almost 24/7. He (the doctor) suggested morphine but I don't want that, I mean sooner or later, (I hope the later) but something is gonna get to my demise. And with morphine now, my body will be used to the drug and I will be lying in some hospital bed whithering in pain. But I do wish they would go back to the old formula, at least I would get relief from the condition that I take them for! Chronic shoulder pain and a diseased liver. So that narrows the field of what I can take. So I assume I am not the only person that feels that Purdue needs to rethink the new and improved oxys and go back to the old. Does anyone know if they are gonna go back? I'd like to know.

I've been on one mg or another since 2003 for reflex sympathetic dystrophy and a hole in my sacral bone w three cysts on my spine etc etc. The new 60 mg is horrible. Doesn't work as long or as well, leaves a horrible taste that wont go away and the pain is so bad that thank God I have three beautiful grandbabies because I have seriously contemplated just ending my suffering. Just because some people abuse it doesn't mean the ones who really need it do. Besides they have already found a way to do so. They are removing the coating and getting high anyway. Just like the drug to make them not get high. My pharmacist told me all this and said that he feels bad for all of us. So nice going perdue all u did was hurt those of us in serious pain. I don't know what I'm going to do now my dr wont even listen to me or take me seriously due to the people who abuse it and my insurance wants me on something else they had to fight to keep me on it then it was reformulated so like I said now what???? This stinks!!!!

Verwon - As the moderator of this web site I think you have done your job and done it well! You can't stop the abuser's to the posts they put up. You have directed me, to phone numbers, etc. that I would have never knew how to find without a fight. I want to thank you personally for the job you have and continue to do.

ya go to opana its an oxymorphone, im just the occasional user and these are my favorites, they are twice the strength of oc's. they have opanas i.r. and e.r.
i.r. is the obvious choice (no gel) and i would have to say the absolute most smoothest snort ever

heroin is the best opiate(i think). all u guys spend so much of ur time tryin to shoot, sniff, or snort a pill thats made purposely so u cant do that. forget wasting all that time tryin to figure it out n go get some real dope(heroin) n shoot, sniff or snort that n at least get high n yall stop wasting so much money. ur still going to have withdraws from either one so u might as well do the next best thing or the next easiest thing

I doubt you have any understanding about being in true debilitating pain on a daily basis. do you not think people with severe pain have not tried 'therapy' and other alternative things and ways to help with their pain. i for instance, have done physical therapy more times than i can remember, traction, steroid/cortizone injections, all kinds of pain meds. don't forget, everyone reacts differently and tolerates certain pain meds differently/better than others. for some, oxy was (before the change in formula) the best and only med that actually worked in helping deal and function with the pain. so don't sit on your f***ing high horse and tell someone to try therapy when you first, don't know that they haven't tried it already and second know what meds work/ed for them or not!

Can anyone tell me if the new oxocodone oxecta can be used for breakthrough pain with oxycontin?

Have u tried fentanyl patches or something similar? If you are in a lot of pain, pills can do a lot of internal damage. But wearing pain patches is less harmful if used as prescribed. Ask the doctor and give a try.

Re: Verwon (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you so much for those telephone numbers, it helps me more than anything with direction because there’s no such thing as doctor stopping anymore they’re all being squeezed and it’s easy to see the favoritism in patients relationships with the doctor, but with my medical insurance on my side and my doctor not caring these phone numbers are a great deal of help thank you so much and God bless you
