Prednisone 20mg Twice A Day

I was diagnosed with steroid withdrawal after receiving 3 steroid shots. and given a 12 day taper. When I got down to last pill the pain in my 2 shoulders and hip came racing back. I'm taking 20mg twice a day starting today. . I started with just 20 but about midnight all the pain came back. I'm trying to get into a endocrinologist but it takes time I would like to know how to taper down without all the pain. How long to take 20x2 before I start to taper

It is normal to have some withdrawal effects when you stop such a medication, even with a taper. As reported by the FDA, it may include rebound pain, insomnia, diarrhea and weight changes.

You shouldn't continue taking it for a longer taper, unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

What steroid was in the shots?

I don't know what was in shots except they were steroid. After reading several posts I'm not sure whether it is steroid withdrwal or PMR. Doctor did blood work last week and I'm trying to get in contact to see results. Getting in to specialist in Florida, this time of year is like impossible. I just want to fine out the reason for all this pain and what I need to do. My first blodwork showed ESR at 55 which was a little elevated. When I got the blood work done I was in bad shape from pain As you see lots of questions and difficult to get any answers. If It wasn't for all the posts I wouldn't have know how to deal with it till I can get in to see Doctor

I have another question. When I left emergency room they gave me a 12 day taper. They didn't say to take pills in morning. I took them with dinner. Could that be a reason that the taper did work. It worked till I got down to 10mg
